I have had this machine for just a day and I am enjoying it greatly. Easy to run and set up. My machine a White I have had since I was in my 20's about 40 yrs. I died and needed something to finish a quilt. This fits the bill.

Cord to electric supply too short. Since I bought this machine, I have had nothing but problems. It continually goes into a "C 4" error and jams. I have cleaned it, oiled it, the works. The settings are those recommended for straight sewing. My mother swore by Singer.... I personally miss my old Brother machine! After 20+ years, it finally died so I bought this one to replace it. I am so unhappy!!!!!!

I purchased this machine for my daughter as a present. She often called me about a C4 error, breaking needles, and bunched thread. Being 2000 miles away, I could not help her much. During a recent visit with her, I had to use the machine for a baby item. I have been sewing for over 50 years and I was so frustrated because the bobbin thread kept bunching up and clogging the functions that I very nearly took a sledge hammer to the machine. I knew the problem was related to tension, but nothing worked. Through troubleshooting and knowing my own machine and past machines I have used, I noticed there was not a thread guide on the needle clamp. Disassembling the clamp, I turned it over and saw that, yes, there is a thread guide, but the only way to use it is to thread the thread through it from the top as you would a needle. How would a novice sewer even know to look there? The thread guide is completely invisible when looking at the machine with the clamp installed and is not part of the thread guide diagram. Even knowing it is there, you cannot get the thread through the guide by using the "hooking" method that is normally used. Once I threaded the thread through the guide, there was never another problem with the machine. My daughter had quit using the machine because of the clogging problems. I did show her how to thread through the guide, but as an inexperienced sewer and the guide not being in the diagram, she will probably not remember and have the same problems. My solution--I will attempt to find a needle clamp that has a better thread guide that will fit her machine. Temporarily, you could very slightly bend the metal hook part of the piece down so the thread could be looped around the guide more easily.

This is the easiest machine I've ever used! It is light weight and easy to carry with you on trips (you never know when the button holes fall apart)! It goes just about everywhere with me!
