Sewing with Duck Cloth

This machine does not sew well on duck cloth or I would imagine denim, it would sew for a few stitches then stop make a loud noise then after a few seconds you could sew again only to have the same thing happen over & over again. I've had Singer sewing machines all of my life for some 45+ years and have never been as disappointed with a machine

Love the machine and purchased a walking foot for it as well as I'm using it for quilting at the moment. The only thing that some times it is hard to do it thread the bobbin for some reason. Takes a few tries to get it set right but other than that I haven't had any problems. Might play around with the other stitches tonight as I haven't yet.

My Sew Mate is not what I expected. It does not sew the way other Singers do.My stitches make poor patterns ,even the zigzag sews straight half the time . It knots and tangles on reverse. And I can't trust it to do any top stitch work because it looks so bad.I hate to say anything about a Singer product, but I am very dissatisfied with my new machine. I don't like the pressure foot lifter on the under side,or the fact that I can't buy attachments for it.

I had the sewing machine home long enough to set it up and test it out for a few minutes and the light bulb started flickering. It flickered several times and then went out. I have to take it to a shop for the light bulb to be changed out.

Don't buy it!! Spend a little extra and get a REAL Singer. The bobbin constantly tangles, can't get more than an inch of stitching without it happening. The bobbin sits vertically, which I hate with a passion, and it does not sit tight, there is too much play in it, which makes it pop out and tangle. There is a tip about threading the bobbin which says, "hit the reverse stitch button once and the needle will cycle once, picking up the bobbin thread". DON'T DO IT!! it can't even do that without tangling and jamming. I have tried different needles, different tension adjustments...basically if you aren't force feeding your fabric through the dogs, they do not pull the fabric fast enough to keep the bobbin from jamming. I hate this thing, I would get more pleasure watching it flying through the air and landing in the street!!!!!!!! My mother's Singer, and my last Singer, were both great machines...this thing, JUNK!! You get what you pay for, find a horizontal bobbin machine, this is my first vertical bobbin and I regret every minute of it!!!!!!!!!
