This was purchased for me as a mother's day gift after my old machine finally bit the dust. C4 error ALL THE TIME. No matter how often I try to fix it, it happens sooooo often. I've been seeing nearly daily since I was 15, I'm not new to how a machine works. This is a very low quality machine.

I received this machine for Christmas, and I couldn't be more happy with any gift I have ever gotten! My father bought it, and I know he thought of all the fun I could have with all the different stitches, and I sure do! It is easy to use. My only complaint would be that it gets jammed up rather often in the bobbin area, but after the first time, I have figured out how to fix it and it's quick and easy.

Truly a dreadful machine. Constant C4 errors which cannot be cleared by usual method of taking bobbin out, cleaning feed dogs etc. It's gets to a point where you cannot even sew a 10 cm straight seam without it jamming up and breaking the needle. Don't waste your time or your money. You'll end up so frustrated you want to throw it at the wall. Throw it out.

C4....

I have had the 5400 for 5 years. Very little use because I don't behave much time to sew. The times I do use it I can garantee I'm going to get the C4 error. I finally got it sewing correctly and my bobbin emptied. Go to wind it and look and behold the winder no longer works. It goes hyperspeed fir 2 seconds and then stops with all the alarms telling me C4. Are you flipping kidding me!? Is that the only error that thing knows!? Nothing on the internet or in the manual was of any help. Tried to take the piece of junk apart and you literally have to break it to take it apart. We don't see anything broken on the inside. still can't figure it out. I tried winding the bobbin by hand and then the machine didn't accept it, it's not tight enough or even enough. Well 5400 beggers can't be choosers! You won't find the bobbins then accept mine! I'm going to try another brand because this is ridiculously frustrating.

The C4 error indicates there may be a bind in the machine. Check that the bobbin case and hook/race assembly has been inserted correctly. Other possible causes for this error can be an internal bind in the machine. This and other error messages are listed in the machine manual on page 29.

My machine was a Christmas gift, and I was so excited to use it. I opened up the packaging to find everything intact, however, for some reason or another, there was no power cord or foot pedal. I was incredibly disappointed, and I have not been able to get these accessories mailed to me because the gifter did not give me a receipt. I can only hope that the next sewing machine I get with have better customer service and understanding of manufacturing/packing malfunctions.

No Guessing-Thank goodness the machine knows more than I do

Finally a sewing machine that knows more than I do. I just pick the picture of the stitch I want and it automatically sets the correct "default" stitch tension and length. If I feel adventurous to try changing them, it allows me to improvise. If I realize I made a mistake, it allows me to "ask" to be put back on the "default" tension and length. This makes all the difference in the world....no more "snaggles and knots" in my stitches. And it even threads the needle for me (a good thing for an old lady who's eyes are not as good as they used to be even WITH glasses).

I was looking for a simple machine to learn how to sew on. I certainly found it with this machine. In just a few minutes I was making my first project.
