Bought Bought my M3500 sewing machine recently to replace my Kenmore and it works very smooth, less noisy, very sturdy and it was very easy to follow the start up instructions. I've even made a few face masks after putting it all together which didn't take more than 15 mins. Great included accessories. I am happy with it.
I bought this machine to be able to do more than just mending clothing. I've had nothing but problems. I've had the thread get stuck in the bottom where the bobbin is MANY times, and I've even had to take the screws out to get the needle unstuck. Now, I'm having an issue with skipping stitches, which appears to be an issue with the hook timing (i saw a demonstration of when the timing was off on YouTube, and this looks the same). Now I have to get the machine serviced. And, oh yeah, I've had the machine for A MONTH. Don't waste your money. But, when it works, it works well.
I would say all of these issues are a user error as I'm relatively new to sewing machines, but I went to my Meme's house to use her Brother machine last week, and I had NO PROBLEMS. No bobbin issues, no stitch skipping, nothing.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
