I sew every day from aprons to out door pillows. This machine could handle it easily. Takes some adjustment to figure out the decorative stitches, need to keep the manual handy but it is easy to read.
I use this machine everyday for handbags, jean alterations etc and absolutely love how easy this powerful machine works thru everything. Excellent sewing machine for a good price.
I use this instead of embroidery machine costing thousands on all heavy duty projects: jeans hems, piping and cording. Sews through anything. Great features: feed dogs lower, pressure adjustment, balance adjustment, lots of stitches, easy to thread.
Pros: Can Withstand Use, Comes with: dual feed foot, feed dogs that lower, Easy To Use, Versatile
I bought this machine to replace my 30 year old singer sewing machine which was a very basic model. I picked this machine because I wanted something heavy duty to do all the crazy jobs my husband wants done from patching his pants to sewing an ice shanty. This machine does have a much better motor that does easily sew through thicker fabrics and makes jobs like hemming jeans very easy. I am somewhat disappointed that I still can not sew really thick items because there just isn't enough space between the presser foot and the bottom plate to get the fabric under it. However, I suspect that most home machines would not be able to do this either. I was disappointed that the foot controller feels really cheap due to it being so light weight and I really miss the hard cover my old machine had for storing. I have had a chance to due a few sewing projects and really liked the even feed/walking foot which made sewing a quilt a breeze since the fabrics weren't sliding all over the place. I also just finished hemming a pair of knit slacks. The stiches for knit fabrics work really well. This is the first time that I've ever had much success sewing knits without the shape being distorted. All in all this is a good machine for the little money that I spent. I love that it is much easier to thread than my old machine.
I recently purchased this model as a machine to transport to and from my quilting class. The reason I purchased a Singer was because I have been sewing with the same Singer machine for nearly 40 years and it has never failed me. Well let me tell you, my new machine did not have 40 minutes on it before the bobbin jammed and it took me an hour to untangle it. I did not panic but went through the instructions to make sure I was doing everything right. After rethreading, rewinding the bobbin and holding my mouth the right way, the machine did sew again. Since that first attempt, i have not gone back to the machine once that it did not jam and I had to rethread, rewind the bobbin and hold my breath to sew for a bit. This is most frustrating. I would not recommend this machine and have lost my faith in Singer.
Purchased this sewing machine to replace my precious one. I've been sewing since the late 1950's, always with Singer. My new machine meets my sewing needs. It's cost was great. Good machine for general sewers.
