I bought a Bernina during a slow work period in the early 1990's. Work increased to the point I really used it seldom. I had learned many years ago on a Singer so when I knew I would be affected by the "shelter in place" plan, I decided to get myself one and also I got one for a lifetime friend. This week I got the same machine for my sister for her birthday. So, I guess you can see I am a pleased customer that is making masks along with my friend and my sister. I'm new to sewing and a friend had recommended this as a starter machine for a novice and it's perfect: easy to use, intuitive, and with all the basic features I need. It's also lightweight and has a handle on top so it can be moved and stored away easily. The dust cover that comes with it is extremely flimsy, however. You should tear its seams and use its pattern to sew a new one as your first project on this machine.
