Like so many others, I am making face masks, but using Velcro to fix to one's head making a one sized fits all mask. My 50 year old Singer met its match with the Velcro and bought this primarily as it was advertised to sew Velcro. It's humming along. Only thing I find difficult is that the foot pedal is not metal and easily is moved accidentally.
Singer is a good solid brand machine, I remember from over 50 years ago. So there was no doubt that I chose a singer model 4452HD, which has everything I need and some. I love it.
I love this machine. I am an experienced seamstress and ordered this machine to use for heavy duty projects like hemming denim jeans, sewing canvas duck, and so forth. Right out of the box, I was sewing within 10 minutes. The set up is extremely easy. The machine effortlessly went from sewing double layer heavy denim to sewing through six layers at a fold without any problem at all. The seams are smooth, stitches even and tension just right. It comes with a quick set-up chart for threading and bobbin winding. There is no illustrated users manual or DVD for the various features, but everything you could possibly need to know is on YouTube. The stitches are easy to change using the front dials. The LED light is bright. Easy needle threader built in. Easy buttonhole function. Heavy enough that it doesn't walk or vibrate when you are sewing. Great buy for the price. Great for beginners to advanced.
Sewing machine is smooth, easy to handle. My old machine was not a Singer and 16 years old. I love the clear bobbin window on the new machine and just pops in! Sewing is a pleasure now. Over 30 stitches perfect for all jobs!
Purchased to make masks for my family and friends. I had to find tutorials from users on YouTube, they showed how to start and set up. Singer should have the same. Also small things like how to change needle. Love the machine itself, perfect for a beginner like me!
I bought the heavy-duty Singer to continue making face masks during the COVID-19 crisis. It works perfectly, so I am able to make and donate many more masks to medical facilities, community center, family, neighbors, and a local store.
