It's nice and light weight. Easy setup and instructions although I prefer a book with it instead of downloading and printing. The book helps with problems that arise over time. The only thing I miss on my cheaper computerized model is a butter to raise up the need when done instead of winding it up.

I'm enjoying the speed and capabilities of this machine. The adjustment of the foot allows for ease in seeing thicker materials and the needle does shift.

My daughter has just begun to sew and this machine is well made, drop in bobbin is easy and this machine has lots of features for a beginner or an experienced seamtress. The case is very sturdy and working parts are made of metal, not plastic. The ease of using the machine was nice. She seems very happy with this new machine.

Love it, but quality control a bit lacking

I love this machine. It feels solid, it can get through 12 total layers of topstitching when making masks (needs some manual help), I like the look, it's easy to use, and has all the standard controls (i.e. foot pressure, left-right needl position, etc). I recommend! However, I've got some cons that I think probably deserve some attention from Singer. Cons: Foot pedal was overly sensitive, in my opinion. I fixed that by opening the pedal and turning down the little potentiometer (with power off). The metal plate holding the light was loose. I tightened the screws. That also tightened up the end cap. Bobbin tension was about 30grams (using polyester dual duty "nothing special" white thread. Also tried black), resulting in me needing to use a top thread tension of about 8 or 9. I got a tension gauge, measured the bobin tension, and fixed it. I'm not using a top tension of about 6 to reach balance. I've got a 150g gauge on the way to check that, although I can't get the top off (hidden snaps?) to adjust the tension wheel adjustment screws. Foot pedal cable too short for a standing desk. I realize this is a relatively new phenomena, but it seems like the cord should be at least a bit longer. I fixed it by splicing in 16 gauge cable. The manual is missing (online only) and is missing quite a bit of maintenance detail. For example: No instructions at all for removing the bobbin case (critical for cleaning and adjusting the bobbin tension), or where to apply oil.

I have had do this machine for a couple of years now. Purchased because my dog murdered my last one by trying to climb into my lap while I was sewing and dragging it down... he weighs 90lbs. It was irreparably damaged and I was in the middle of a project, so I was limited to what was in stock nearby. In the beginning, I hated this machine. We were so much not friends. I hated (still hate) the flat base and all the other little "not my machine" quirks. I have since come to realize that this is a laid-back, decent machine which will get the job done if you are willing to work with it, and I feel bad for hating prematurely.... story of all my friendships really. We now cocreate quite peacefully. I do occasionally run into the random tension issue that some people have brought up, but I have never met a machine that didn't need occasional adjustments and it isn't hard. Takes about fifteen minutes to get it back to perfect; just take a deep breath and adjust. It is a good bit louder than many modern machines, but not louder than my last machine or the industrial machines at work, so a non-issue for me. I just found the feed dog drop switch TODAY! It is a little bit hidden. It is less fancy than my last machine, which I initially thought would be an issue, but so far we have not run into a single project that it couldn't handle. It's a good machine. All it wants is to be loved.

i would not waste another penny especially on this machine , i own 2 other singer machines and this by far is the worst new machine i ever purchased. my old stylist is by far the best one that i own . but after all the tension problems with this machne even with two diifferent threads one in the bobbin and one one top it has sewing mistakes you have to use the same kinda thread above and below. threads always breaking tension is always needing adjusting . its horrible !!

Usedit to restich a boat tarp instead of paying $900 for a new custom tarp. Finished the job in 3 hours. Very fast if you want it fast! I used coats outdoors thread too. Thick stuff. Now I will probably sell the machine on marketplace for 50$ more than I paid for it.
