Excellent User Friendly Machine

I bought the 4452 Heavy Duty Sewing Machine for my wife. She wanted a sewing machine that could sew heavy fabric such as denim. She loves the machine and has been sewing every day since it arrived. One of the things she likes about it is that it doesn't require a lot of adjustment. The tension is easy to set and does not require adjusting the bobbin.

Versatile.

My first project with this machine was making a cover for my grill. Heavy vinyl backed canvas. Leather needle and heavy nylon upholstery thread. The machine didn’t even slow dow sewing through up to six layers of fabric on some seams. Next project was a couple chair pads. Regular cotton material, #14 needle, regular thread. Beautiful stitching. This is a very versatile machine and I couldn’t be happier with it for a homeowner style machine.

Singer 4452 fits the bill.

I would give a rating of 4.6 if that was an option. I wanted a heavy duty machine that could handle thick fabrics. My old Singer still works like a champ but cannot handle the thicker stuff. The Singer 4452 fits the bill nicely. I already made a couple items and the Singer 4452 didn't even break a sweat. I love the increased speed as well. The only issue I have is that a few of the components are rather flimsy. The most important being the thread spindle. I am concerned that if I catch it by accident it will snap right off. I would think they could manufacture a piece that would be more durable without affecting the price too much. Still, I really like this machine and look forward to trying out some new projects.

I bought this machine a few months ago, it was my first machine and I LOVE it!!!!!!!! I've worked on other machines, they were so flimsy in comparison. I loved it so much, I recommended it to a friend, who was joining my business, she tried to buy the same model but it was sold out everywhere.

Love this Ugly Workhorse

I replaced my nearly 40 year old Singer with this Heavy Duty Machine after reading many, many reviews. I’d been worried about some of the negative reviewers’ concerns but after using this machine regularly for the past month I feel that most of the concerns are probably due to inexperience. Just remember to read your manual, use the right needles and thread, change your needles regularly, adjust your tension as needed and from my experience you’ll find you e got yourself a reliable workhorse. My biggest complaint about this machine is the color. If they wanted to differentiate it from non-heavy duty machines by color, black would have been a better choice. This grey is so ugly.

Good Machine, but needs some design alterations

I bought this machine as my 80 year old pre-WWII was in the shop during Covid. I like this machine over all, but the power pedal is way too light and moves around on the floor unless I put a brick behind it. It also takes some getting used to as it must be pressed in the middle to make it run and it is difficult to regulate the sewing speed. I imagine this will become easier as I sew more on it.
I find that, for me, the light is in the wrong place and does not illuminate to the right of the needle very well. The inch/centimeter markings are in the back of the needle instead of in front of it where it would be more useful for keeping cloth in line. I will be adding markings on the metal plate in front of the bobbin to help line up fabrics .In the US, it would be beneficial to have the inch markings, rather than the centimeter markings, closer to the user. Other than that, it is a good machine and runs well, so far. I like the large variety of easy automatic stitches and the buttonhole option. I look forward to exploring all the available features in the near future.
My previous machine had a 20 year guarantee and has lasted 80+ years doing basic sewing and fancier sewing with its accessories, but this one has only a 90 day guarantee. I hope it lasts much longer than that. My mon's Singer lasted 50 years., but it was all metal.
I would recommend this as a reasonably priced machine for all but the most experienced sewers who may need even more sewing options..
