Thought it was great, until...

I purchased this machine in June when my 30yo Babylock failed to sew a thick seam. Worked well until this weekend when the bobbin winder stopped working, and the thread tension was very off. I adjusted the top thread tension to no avail finally resorting to adjusting the machine tension. They say you shouldn’t have to adjust the machine tension on a machine for normal sewing. I found that not to be the case for this one.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Have been sewing for 50+ years, and started on an old black straight stitch machine. My first new machine was a Touch and Sew, which I used for 30 years. Then went to a used singer, and now this is my second new machine. (I'm old school, no computerized machine for this gal) Love my 4452, not much to look at, but then neither am I anymore, lol. It works great and does heavy fabric great. Didn't think I was going to like the see through bobbin door, or transparent bobbins, but it is nice seeing how much thread you have and no surprises, such as sewing for 5 minutes before you realize you're out of bobbin thread. Easy to fill bobbin, and thread. Reverse in a different place then I'm use to, and also thread cutter, but getting use to it. Haven't used threader, remember I'm old school and am waiting till I really need it. The only thing that can be improved is the coverage of light, but that is with all machines. Hope I have this machine as long as I had my Touch and Sew. Could have bought more expensive machine, but I am comfortable with Singer, and also didn't want computer machine. Learning curve for this machine was almost non-exsistant.
Great machine, easy to use. Way better then the Tradition Line. Drop in bobbin is a game changer. Only wish they had more stitch options or the same as the Tradition line.
Totally disappointed in this product from an iconic brand. The bobbin is defective and that has halted my production capacity. I have requested a speedy response to my request for return and refund.

This machine never worked properly. Bobbin thread bunched up from the beginning. Also, needle threader never worked. Returned machine.

The machine runs very smooth and handles multiple layers without difficulties. I only wish the manual came with the machine. I was able to download the manual and delete all the pages in different languages to cut down on the waste of paper before printing. I do request that you include the BOBBIN SIZE IN THE MANUAL. You list all the needle sizes but fail to mention the bobbin size needed. I finally found it by going back to the website and looking up the machine "specifications" and finally found it way at the bottom!! That took me over several hours of searching just to find needed information that should have been easily found in the manual. I expect to get many years out of this machine.
I love this sewing machine! It is straight forward and simple to use, and best of all, it is very similar to the sewing machine I grew up using. It’s like coming home! I can’t wait to discover all of its capabilities as I continue to renew my love of sewing.
This is my first ever sewing machine and I haven't sewn since middle school (20 years ago). I found it super easy to use, handles thick fabric/many layers with ease and can stitch super quickly. I haven't encountered any problems in the 8 months I've had the machine. I just wish the foot pedal was more responsive.
