Shank Screw broke off in shank

I bought the 4452 4 months ago. I've sewn 3 scrub hats. Like 1hr max sewing time. I removed the original presser foot and was turning the shank screw to attach the walking foot and the screw sheared off on the shank.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have always had a problem with the needles. I purchase singer needles and they never fit. Then the machine will just stop. I wish it worked better and not in the mood to have it fixed. I just want to sew and not have problems....

can not find a repair shop closer than 250 miles f

i have owned Singer sewing machines for 60 years but without arepair shop i will never buy another Singer

Time Machine - Not Sewing Machne

Over the past few years I've spent more time trying to get this to sow than actually getting a stitch to be made. Endless hours of coaxing this terrible machine to sew. It gets me half into a project then the horror begins - it will not sow for any number of reasons. Why does it sow fine for a while and then simple go to ruin while working with the same materials? I thought maybe I should replace the bobbin holder, but guess what? THERE ARE NO PARTS!! Their website seems to have left that out, just some wonderful accessories I do not need.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Poor design

The thread gets hung up on handle and is constantly breaking I spend more time rereading needle than getting any sewing done wish I had never bought it

Love the machine, but wish the plastic parts felt more durable. I bought this to replace my 30 year old singer which is not "heavy duty", but actually has more weight to it and feels more substantial. Agree with another persons comment that I read that the work light could be warmer/brighter, and that the "reverse" is in an awkward place. Was much more user friendly on the lower right front where my thumb could use it. Also, not sure that the straight stitch option on the wheel is lined up properly inside. the needle is not centered unless I keep the knob setting a bit off center.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Wanted a heavy duty sewing mach but this wasn’t it

I was disappointed as I wanted a “heavy duty” that would sew through heavier material to include craft projects & denim. I ended up breaking a heavy duty needle and having my thread bunch and not be able to complete my project (not once but continual). Works fine for lighter sewing but I already had a good machine for that. Was easy to thread and basic use. I should have paid attention to the other reviews I read before my purchase. I expected better from Singer & would return it if it wasn’t such a hassle.
