I have only had this sewing machine for a couple of weeks, but so far it has met my expectations. Ask me again in a year and I expect I would have a more solid recommendation. The last Singer I owned was purchased by my mother in 1961. I had to give up on it after 50 years. I do still own a Singer Vibrating Shuttle originally owned by my great grandmother and it still works, even the bobbin winder. I have owned one sewing machine that was not a singer and it lasted less than two years. It was not sturdy enough for the type of sewing I like to do.
It's nice and light weight. Easy setup and instructions although I prefer a book with it instead of downloading and printing. The book helps with problems that arise over time. The only thing I miss on my cheaper computerized model is a butter to raise up the need when done instead of winding it up.
Singer is a good solid brand machine, I remember from over 50 years ago. So there was no doubt that I chose a singer model 4452HD, which has everything I need and some. I love it.
I purchased this machine when my lady singer not the dust. I chose this machine because I am seeing face masks for our community and my family and friends. This is the greatest machine ever and has allowed me to fell like I am Contributing in a positive way. Way to go Singer. Great machine and easy to operate. Love it!!!! *****
I've been hand sewing for years, but was always too intimidated by the prospect of a machine to pick one up. I got this machine now that I decided to take the plunge, and it has already been worth every penny. It was super easy to set up, and I was away and sewing comfortably within a few minutes. The speed is something I consider a big pro, as well as the amount and thickness of fabric it can handle. The number of stitches also offers more variety than I need at this level, and I don't see myself outgrowing that any time soon, if ever. An important note is that the manual for this machine exists solely online as a PDF. For me, this is actually a pro, as it allows me to use my phone as a manual when at the machine and search through it with ease. I know others may not feel the same way or may prefer a paper manual, so if you're among that number, I would just remain cognizant of that fact when purchasing. (You could also always just print it out after downloading it, in any case)
