Really is an easy straight forward machine. As a beginner I decided I would need ease of use, not a huge learning curve, wanted it to be fun after all and still repair or sew heavier fabrics if needed. That is why why I went with this mechanical rather than digital type of machine.

It's working well. I'm loving it. I'm 68, have been sewing since about 8-10 yrs old, and this is my first new machine. I especially wanted something heavy duty, no frills and one that could manage seams in jeans, etc. I've been using it for this and it's working. Thank you! I'd recommend the machine.

Love this sewing machine! It is just has heavy duty as advertised. I have already sewn jeans and seat belt material to make costumes and it makes such quick work of it all! You can buy countless feet for this machine to fit any need you want. My two complaints with this machine is the thread cutter needs to have a bigger opening or needs to be sloped more so the thread slides into the cutter easier. Two, when removing the bottom cover to have closer sewing area, you can't reach the whole way under the bottom which can be an issue for bulky material. If those two design flaws were fixed this would be an easy 10/5 stars!!!

The needle positions doesn’t work on either of my heavy duties don’t know why and the speed is slower than my last heavy duty. But all in all a work horse nonetheless.

We regret to learn that you are having issues with your Singer Heavy Duty model 4452 sewing machine. Needle position for a straight stitch can be adjusted two ways on our Heavy Duty machines.
The first way uses the needle position dial.
The second way uses the stitch width dial.
To center your needle, your needle position dial needs to be set to center position and your stitch width dial needs to be set to “0”.
The needle position dial will not function unless the width dial is on “0”.

I love the machine. Needed a heavy duty machine to mend my husband's and son's work clothes (heavy denim and duck cloth) and for home décor projects. My only complaint is that the automatic needle threader on the machine stopped working after about 2 weeks. It was great while it worked but then it just stopped. Glad my eyesight is still good and I can thread my own machine. Other than that, I have no complaints. It works well on all types of fabrics and comes with a large number of attachments.

Love my new machine. Arrived ready to go. Would have preferred a paper instruction booklet. You only have an online one. I had an older version of this machine and some parts have been replaced with plastic like the bobbin compartment cover that you have to take completely off to insert the bobbin. Also the stitching guides are harder to see
