After using the same machine for over 40 years, it is going to take time to get acquainted with a new one! Old friends are hard to part with.
So far, I am liking the new 4452 singer. I am not a casual seamstress, I am serious and tackle big projects, I was in the middle of a project when my old reliable machine became terminally ill. Guess what! The Heavy Duty 4452 popped up in my email! Thank you Singer for coming to my rescue.

Some features defective

My first experience with a Singer sewing machine to replace an old Brothers. This machine works for basic stitches, but when it comes to doing button holes and other fancy stitches, it will not work. I've tried every tutorial, every troubleshooting guide and recruited the help of an experienced friend; my machine will absolutely not do button holes. I occasionally hear clunks, thread breakages, and it jams in a way that requires disassembly of the machine. I've spent more time fixing jams than I have used the machine. Overall, I'm disappointed and will be sticking with other brands.

Great for heavy projects and lightweight projects

Ordered this with a good price. It has served well for a few projects with thick seams and lightweight mending. Singer is a good name from 50+ years ago. The machine doesn't feel like it will get pushed around due to it make-up of a metal frame. Easy to thread. Still haven't figured out the self threading of the needle, but my sight still allows me to thread without too much difficulty
