I owned a Singer Athena for 44 years. I don't sew more than maybe 4 times a year depending on need and time. Was making face masks for fellow nurses and health professionals when my dog foot broke. I bought a Bernina during a slow work period in the early 1990's. Work increased to the point I really used it seldom. I had learned many years ago on a Singer so when I knew I would be affected by the "shelter in place" plan, I decided to get myself one and also I got one for a lifetime friend. This week I got the same machine for my sister for her birthday. So, I guess you can see I am a pleased customer that is making masks along with my friend and my sister.
