I was hoping this will be a quieter humidifier but dissatisfied that even on low it’s still pretty noisy.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have a large house into which the original HVAC contractor installed the SMALLEST Aprilaire unit made (about 1/3 of the required capacity). In order to make up the required 30 gallon per day estimated need, I purchased 3 of these units and they have been running full blast since. The water containers are easy to fill. They may be heavy for some when full, but there is no requirement to fill them all the way if that is a problem.
The unit takes but a few minutes to assemble. I'd like to comment on other comments that I have read about this unit. The twin containers do not drain evenly. This, of course, is due to the very slight differences in the air pressure (vacuum) resulting when the tanks are inverted. Patience is all that is needed...if one drains completely, the other will drain. This is NOT a defect and there is no need to complain about it or try to fix it (as I've seen suggestions for). The design is elegantly simple, reliable and has but one moving part (the fan).

This humidifier runs 24/7 in an environment that has a woodstove and dogs. It does the job perfectly in spite of burning wood. I like the easy fill and clean and quiet operation!

Simple, large capacity, but not very ergonomic

The simplicity of this humidifier is nice. However, the construction does seem a bit flimsy. The bottom and top pieces don't lock together and often come apart of you try to move the unit. The two jugs hold a ton of water, but there's only a handle on the inside, so refilling ends up being a bit of an awkward process. The jugs also don't lock or click in. They just sit upright. Initially this seems like it will cause water to spill everywhere, but it ends up just filling the bottom of the unit. It would be nice if there were some mechanisms to lock all these pieces in place and better handles on both the jugs and the unit to make it easier to refill and move around.

This has been a skin saver!! I take such good care of my skin, and oh the horror after moving to Sunriver, Oregon. Although beautiful, it's so dry!! No matter what I did, I had dry cracked hands, and dry skin, for the first time in my life. To stop a rapid aging process (lol), I bought this humidifier! Wow, it is easy to operate and maintain by myself, compact, and isn't heavy for me. We had to move it downstairs due to the occasional gulp gulp gulp noises interrupting our sleep, but we love this evaporative humidifier! I will probably get a second. Thank you!
