Could burn down your house. Probably won't.

Have two of these. Bought one in May 2018 and another in December 2018. They increase the humidity a bit and worked great for a while. The issues (on both of them) is that the fan will eventually stop spinning on the low and medium fan speeds. Eventually it will stop running on high. Came back to my apartment once and smelled burning. The fan had stopped spinning and I assume the motor was overheating. This is a bit alarming to happen on both units. Removed all the dust and oiled the fan shaft and that got them running again for a few more months. Then they stopped again. Will reach out to Vornado to see what they recommend to get the fans spinning again. I know it's a cheap unit but making cheap products just contributes to our waste problem. For the environment, we need to stop having so many children or make better humidifiers. In the meantime, make sure you have good homeowners insurance in case your house burns down.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The main reason I chose this model over the other with the same capacity was because it is made in the USA. It does the job of humidifying an area of about 1700 sq ft efficiently. That said: I do not like the way the bottles are made. They are obviously designed for larger hands than mine and are awkward for me to handle. Every time I fill them, I am afraid that I will not get it properly seated so am extra careful. A small improvement of a molded handle on the top similar to the one on the inside surface would help greatly. Also, it is noisier than what I replaced, both in the fan at medium speed and when it releases water into the reservoir. When it arrived, there was fine gritty dust inside the box and inside the body of the unit. I presume this was because I live on a graveled road and the packaging was not tight enough to keep the dust out, even with the plastic bag around the item inside, in the cargo area of the carrier's truck. I vacuumed and cleaned the entire item and hoped the grit didn't get into the fan's motor. I have been using it for about a month and there doesn't seem to be any damage as it runs fine.

We purchased this to replace our ~30 year old model when the old fan motor failed. We know from experience that it is a GREAT piece of equipment. It won't be turned on until heating season when it will humidify our 2 bedroom condo very adequately.

This humidifier operates almost silently on low, which is all we need in a bedroom. It also has a couple honkin’ big reservoirs, so I can fill it and forget it for days. We have hard water, so I don’t know how often we’ll have to change filters, but hands down the best humidifier I’ve found. Wish I hadn’t thrown away all that money on those small humidifiers that burn out in a few months. I was looking for a humidifier made in the USA and this one fit the bill. Very happy with it

Hard to beat!

We purchased our Evap40 a few months ago and really can't say enough good about it. We live in the Metropolitan Denver area which is usually quite dry. We have an 1800 sq ft home with a living room dining room with a cathedral ceiling to a loft above. We set up the humidifier along with a smaller sized floor fan that circulates the air up and into the loft area. We ran the humidifier at full blast 24/7 for over a week burning up 4 gallons a day. The humidifier finally caught up to the house. Since then it's remained on low and uses about two gallons a day. It keeps our entire house between 35 and 40% total humidity. We've had four different kinds of humidifiers through the years and this is hands down the very best! Remarkably it is also the least expensive unit we've owned. We have had major issues in the past buying replacement filter elements for the other humidifiers we owned. DO NOT BUY any humidifier without checking first to see how available replacement filters are! We literally tossed to the trash a very expensive famous brand name humidifier that we could not get a replacement filter for and it was less than a year old!! Buyer beware! Vornado rises above all the rest here. I usually get my filters within two days of ordering. Vornado is a true "customer first" company. It is so refreshing these days to experience such impeccable customer service!

We purchased the Evap40 early April. 2021, it was love at first "gulp". We moved to one of the hottest, driest, uber unhealthy low humidity, towns in the USA. We weren't aware humidity levels of 8%-15% existed, sadly they do. We purchased at least 5 humidifier mist prior to purchasing the Vornado and were not satisfied, partly because refilling the water was quite inconvenient and because we have horrible water quality (extreme hard water) we were left with white mist over everything, literally. In some amazing, fantastic way, the Evap40 manages to add fresh air in the environment, we weren't expecting that! It's AWESOME - we love it! It manages to keep the environment very cool, which for us in another huge plus! Cleaning is super easy! We run it, nearly constantly. At night we run it on low, and keep it in the living room because I am a light sleeper, so long as I keep the bedroom door slightly closed, I'm totally good, no major noise issues! For those who love a white noise effect also, you'll appreciate having the unit running at night, because it provides that too. Can't beat Made In The USA! Thanks Vornado!

I've used this unit for about three weeks now. I felt a difference in the house after 30 minutes of running it on high. I live in an area that usually sees only single-digit humidity levels, so the output of this unit is impressive. It's easy to dismantle and clean, then put back together. I really like that this unit can hold four gallons of water, so it doesn't have to be refilled constantly. The water tanks can be a bit noisy as they dispense water into the evaporative tray. It seems to help with the pollen and dust levels inside the house. Overall, a great unit to have for a room or small home.
