I'm a first time sewer and thought it was going to be very challenging, but this machine is so easy to use! It's had no problem doing the denim and sequin projects I've been working on. It has a ton of power, I've only used it at about half power and that is PLENTY.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I purchased a Singer 4423 on October 25, 2018. After less than a year of infrequent, light use a belt on the machine broke on May 10, 2019. I thought it would still be under warranty since it is less than a year old. How silly of me - I spent 45 minutes on hold with the warranty service department only to discover that the belts on this machine are only covered by a 90-day warranty. That's RIDICULOUS. I will NEVER purchase a singer again and will NEVER recommend them to anyone else.

I purposely purchased a Singer and went to a Heavy Duty since I sew denim. From the first this machine has been a big disappointment. The easy threader broke, and I bought a new one. Then the zipper foot won't allow me to sew on both sides, just one or needle hits the foot. Moving needle position doesn't work. The Singer warrenty providers are over an hour of travel due to the very large city I live in. Not worth it. So, I won't buy Singer again, unless I go with a very high end machine. These less costly products are not worth the price. I've paid more in repairs than the machine cost.
I needed to replace my very old Singer and chose this model because I was interested in a straight forward machine that wasn't computerized. I am an experienced sewer but usually only create basic projects. This machine exceeded my expectations. First, it's SO light weight compared to my old machine. It's also very quiet compared to my old machine. It has all the features I'm looking for and is super easy and simple to use. My first project was making masks. This machine whipped through the heavy, multiple layers of fabric. What a delight to use. Next project is a t-shirt quilt for my daughter to take to college...as soon as supplies become more plentiful
We read a bunch of reviews, articles, and personal testimony. Hard as heck to even find an available machine during this pandemic. We wanted a Singer, and one finally came available and was not price hiked like everywhere else. Anyway, we got it, set it up, downloaded all of the directions, did a few test runs.....then all of our troubles started. Basically, the thread (we tried 8 different threads, and a few materials, and it would constantly bind and stop threading correctly. We could not reach anyone for days for support. When we finally got a call back, we asked to return and full refund. Still awaiting the refund.
My daughter had been using the same Singer machine I used to make some of her baby clothes. It was at least 30 years old. It worked but had seen better days. Since my daughter was making masks for anyone who needed them, I decided it was time to invest in something more reliable. Singer was reliable before so I did my research and this model seemed like the heavy duty we were looking for. So far, my daughter made many more masks and pieced a quilt she had started a decade ago. Not one problem! It's a work horse! So happy with our purchase!
I purchased this to compliment my Singer Quantum Stylist 9960 when working on stacked fabric home ware projects such as quilted oven mitts, and other heavy duty projects like sewing thick patches onto my high school umpire uniform shirts. It also serves as a nice backup enabling me to work on different projects at the same time.
Setup and threading this machine was incredibly easy. The foot pedal allows for very precise sewing speed. It’s a very forgiving machine, and honestly felt like I was still sewing on the computerized 9960.
A quick read of the manual, and most importantly, taking the time to learn the machine by sewing on scrap fabric will go a long way in quickly solving most all user errors.
Bottom line. I’m very glad I added this machine to my Singer family.
I have waisted too much time untangling this bobbin. This machine was a waste of money.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We are sorry to hear that you have had this experience with your 4423 sewing machine. Taggling of the bobbin can often be fixed by rethreading the machine and double checking that the bobbin (Class 15 Transparent in your case) is correctly inserted. We trust that you have tried these trouble-shooting tips. Thank you for making us aware of these issues.
