I really love this machine for being a beginner. Most of the features are easy to use. I did find the automatic threader to be quite difficult to use, but I am sure with time I will get better at it. The machine is heavy and is a great size to store away. I love that you can find video step by step information on the SINGER website to help with using the machine.
I typically use a sewing machine for basic purposes like hemming pants legs, and small projects that do not require great expertise. This heavy duty, yet simple to use machine fills my needs. I like the needle threading feature because eyesight and unsteady hands would likely prevent me from using this machine without it. Overall I am well pleased with my 4423 heavy duty Singer sewing machine.
This machine is exactly what I hoped it would be, dependable, powerful, accurate, fun and easy to use. Of course mask making is what I'm working on right now, I also make costumes, cloaks, girls clothing, leather items, and household items.
I would reccomend the Singer overall over again and again

People were buying every sewing machine during the covid 19 and my machine was a Brother and It was no good so I looked on line and I found the singer .Over all these years I mostly used Singer But i am so glad I got the machine I feel lost without one.
I bought this machine for making masks. My old machine didn't work well any multiple layers, so I wanted and needed a heavy duty machine that could handle multiple layers and not jam up, skip stitches or mess up the tension. This machine has not let me down. The only problem I had is if the bobbin wasn't right I would have tension problems. I redid the bobbin and it worked great afterwards.

Just bought this machine because my sewing/embroidery machine wasn't doing what I needed. I make costumes for my kids theatrical company and needed a tough machine that I could schlep to rehearsals and theaters on a weekly basis. The solid metal frame and basic stitches are all I need.
