Since I was a child, my mom's dressmaker was already using Singer sewing machine. And i know this brand is known for a long time, So i never had second thoughts of buying this. I really love love it.
I couldn't get over it! I was a big sewer in the 70-80's, making coats and whatever for myself and then my children. I had my mother's old Singer and it was the best. Feeling of comfort. I gave it to a daughter and got busy with life and teaching, stopped sewing. With all that's going on, I thought it time to take up sewing again. This machine was rated one of the best, didn't cost a fortune, figured why not? It IS my mother's machine (way lighter though). It is like finding an old friend- couldn't be happier!
I've been using it to sew masks for donation. It's a workhorse of a machine that does very well sewing over multiple layers of fabric. e.g., the dreaded multi-layer pleat from the Deaconess or Kaiser Permanente patterns, or even when sewing layers of tinfoil into the top front french seam of a face mask. The set of stitches are basic, but really all you need when what you want is no fuss machine. Also, the needle threading tool works like magic.
I brought this machine for my 94 year old mother and she loves it. And it is easy for her to use. When checking it out for her, I liked it so well I brought one for myself. Even though I already have 3 sewing machines.
When I started sewing face masks for essential workers, my old sewing Manning started giving me trouble with the thread getting caught so that I had to hold one finger on the thread while sewing. So, I went on line and ordered this new machine. It arrived in a good amount of time. It has been working well for my continuing sewing project. Since I am getting older, threading needles has become more of a challenge. So I really like the way it threads your needle for you.
