My first new refrigerator in over 26 years

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought a dual compressor Whirlpool refrigerator when I moved to California in January 1993 and it only recently started making a noise that indicated that it was time to replace. It would have turned 27 in January. Knowing that the newer models don't last nearly as long, I chose a no-frills model with a single compressor (freezer adjustment is handled through the fan as opposed to a separate compressor). It took a little longer than I hoped to cool down initially and it seemed to be self adjusting over the course of the first few days based on my thermometer, but now 5 days into ownership, I think that it settled into a nice groove. The wire racks in the main part of the refrigerator can be easily covered with lightweight cutting mats. The freezer is also basic, so I used the ice cube holder from my old fridge and am working on a solution to store ice cube trays. While I'm very pleased with this model now, my concern is how long it will last. Ask me again in 10 years. I really hope it lasts that long.

Grateful for a Great Complimentary Refrigerator

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My family received this refrigerator as part of an exchange program that our utility company, LADWP, was offering. We had our old refrigerator of 20+ years inspected and taken away by LADWP to have recycled, while they dropped off this brand new Whirlpool refrigerator, free of charge, on the same day. I cannot state how grateful I was for this. The fridge works great, and is more spacious than our previous unit. It's also much more cost effective when it comes to consuming electricity every month. Thank you again for this upgrade!
