Our faithful GE 2539668410 purchased back in August 1996, finally gave up the ghost! Our American Home Shield policy offered this upgraded refrig as a replacement and we snapped at it! Lower power consumption and roomier interior, plus 2 bins now instead of one in the main compartment. Gallon sized shelves on the doors now keeps the milk in convenient reach for the kids and guests. The added Ice-maker and water dispenser in the freezer door are a welcome upgrade too. Thank you GE; and we are looking forward to many MORE years of flawless service from this new

Replacing same model bought 2001

I'm hoping this side by side will last as long as the nearly identical GE 20 cu ft it is replacing. That one had a single service call in 14 years -- to repair the ice maker. My GE Monogram at another location is also 14 and running perfectly. Both of the older models seem to have been built with stronger parts and less plastic than the one I just received two days ago. On the new model, the dispenser grid doesn't fit properly; customer service is mailing me a replacement, but lacking some sort of 'slot' to hold the grid in place, I doubt it will fit any better. The dispenser 'paddle' doesn't turn off the water until the paddle is fully released. There is no way to prevent dripping unless I use one hand to hold a glass in a tilted position and depress and release the paddle with my other hand.
