I love it. It's got great visibility and convenient storage. The repairman on our former refrigerator recommended whirlpool as being trouble free. He himself had one. Barbara

we purchased a whirlpool gold model # G17FVCXWYO1 in late 2010 and since had nothing but problems.
11/2/2015 replaced water valve.
11/30/2015 replaced whirlpool fridge. heater kit and filter housing
01/13/2016 replaced water valve and ice maker
02/12/2016 replaced whirlpool control
11/2/2015 replaced water valve.

Fire hazard!!

We've had this refrigerator for 5 years when the ice dispenser stopped working. That was inconvenient since we now had to open the door to get ice. But a bit later, the ice maker stopped making ice. Now that was REALLY inconvenient, because we had to go out and BUY ice.
Before we could get a repairman out to fix any of this, the ice maker began to leak water. So I turned it off.
Good thing, because I tried checking to see if maybe I cleared the existing ice out and tried again, it might start working again. Whejn I turned it on, smoke came out of the door and actual FLAMES came out from the lower door hinge, near the floor. HOLY COW... it's about to set my house on fire!!!!
I turned it off as quickly as possible and am now shopping for a new refrigerator. Which is a shame since I had spent money on replacement plastic shelves when they broke.
Sorry, no videos of my Whirlpool refrigerator in flames. I suppose I could plug it in again...
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Whirlpool Gold side by side fridge. It is very quiet and keeps everything nice and cold. I got the black one and it looks very elegant in my kitchen with my other black appliances. The door shelves are deep and hold a lot of food items. I like the see through bins and the glass shelves, very attractive and elegant looking. However, pretty much every single door bin has broken during the paat year. Very, very disappointing. I really enjoy the through-the-door ice and water dispenser. The filters are very expensive though.
