Although my husband pushed for a cooktop that was 'flat', I love cooking with gas. I know a flat top looks 'cleaner', but I was presently surprised how pretty the KitchenAid looks. The grates over the burners have graceful, curved lines that I think adds interest to the cooktop. The downdraft is very efficient but a tad noisy. But every downdraft I've ever owned has been noisy!

Just got this installed a month ago and love it!!! The downdraft is super powerful and works better than I expected. It is very nice looking with my Klondike Paydirt quartz countertop! Love it!!

Installed about a month ago and installed with no real issues in counter top where a GE Profile countertop was removed. We looked at a number of brands and not only was this best looking but most rugged and easy to clean as well.
The exhaust fan is louder than expected.

For the most part we really like the cook top

Since we purchased our last down-draft cook top 15 years ago, this is a vast improvement. If you want ease of use get one of those electric flat panel cook tops. If you want a real gas cook top this is a good drown draft model.
Many people complain that the down-draft reduces the heat for cooking. But the Kitchen Aid has made some improvements that really makes this a very good cook top.
The surface is both very easy and hard to clean. It shows dirt and water spots and your really need to avoid getting grease even close to the control knobs. But the sealed burners make it a vast improvement over my old cook top.
If you have limited space, and really want a gas cook top and you need a down draft model, I would recommend this cook top.
