[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works well except the downdraft blower is a little strong and pulls the flame towards the blower

Hard to keep the glass top, drives me crazy with the smears.
Cheap knobs, the knob to the downdraft cracked (after maybe 15 times using no it).
The grates are too slippery.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I remodeled my kitchen last month and I wanted a open concept kitchen. I purchased the Architect Series II by KitchenAid and I love it. It looks great in my breakfast bar and the build in downdraft is great and eliminated the need for an exhaust fan.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] wasn't sure how a downdraft gas cooktop would work, but it seems to have been well engineered, and I would recommend this product to anyone. Burners really turn down low for simmering

Very attractive cooktop. Many features have serious issues.

The cooktop is very attractive, but only before its first use. However, that is my first complaint - it is extremely difficult and time consuming to clean. After nearly every use, all of the components need to be removed, cleaned using separate protocols and then reassembled ? a process that takes no less than 15 minutes. The black glass is especially hard to clean, and the position of the knobs makes it impossible to clean around them without removing the knobs and the rubber seals. It also took many weeks of experimentation to determine that the only way to avoid streaking was to finish with a microfiber towel (no other material works). It would have been helpful if the instructions had said that.
Second, after only a few uses, the porcelain surface on the cast iron grates began bubbling off. In addition, due to the glossy surface and the fact that the grates have an overall convex shape, some pans have a tendency to slip off the sides ? a very dangerous proposition.
As for cooking, I don?t find any of the burners to have a high enough BTU rating to boil water in a satisfactory amount of time (nor keep a big pot of pasta boiling properly) ? the maximum burner is only 15,000 BTU. And here?s something that makes things worse ? when the downdraft exhaust is on, it pulls the flame so strongly to one side, that the opposite side of the flame almost doesn?t exist! This makes for unacceptably uneven cooking.
I checked the internet for other reviews of this cooktop to see if I was the only one who had similar problems ? far from it. All of the problems I have experiences are common. I?ve come to the conclusion that this cooktop is just for looks and isn?t a serious cooking device.
Before I just throw this out and spend a lot of money buying another brand , I thought I would check and see if there was anything KitchenAid was willing to do. They made it very clear that they weren't willing to do anything regarding my dissatisfaction with this product.
Pros: Attractive
Cons: Everything else
