I've used this Dyson V11 for a couple of months now. This review is ONLY for that model, as other models of theirs can be very different. I love it. The suction is excellent, everything easily snaps together, and emptying the cup is awesomely simple! The other tools included are also easy to use.
While I was searching for a cordless stick vac the deal-breaker features for me were that the dust cup and filter had to be easy to remove, clean, and reinsert; putting the vacuum itself together and taking it apart had to be simple and easy; and that the suction be strong enough. The Dyson fits all three perfectly. Plus it has good battery life and easy-to-follow instructions, and it's a LOT quieter than regular vacs I've used. As for the complained-about trigger switch that has to be held while vacuuming, I need that! I could easily forget to shut the vac off while pulling out furniture and such, something not as critical with a corded vac. I'm very glad to have it.
I don't have stars in my eyes--there are a couple of minor flaws. The attachment of the wand to the main body is somewhat awkward for me (may not be a problem for younger folks), though once it's aligned it does snap in easily and leaves no doubt that it's attached correctly. Another is that the head sometimes doesn't handle edges as well as I'd like (though there is a separate edge tool), and it also can have trouble with sucking up bigger pieces. Finally, I wouldn't recommend depending on any cordless stick vac to fully take care of a very large home.
However, I do wholeheartedly recommend this vac for small apartments like mine. It's EXACTLY what I was looking for!

It's very top heavy and holding the button is hard on your hand. So both together makes yiur hand hurt when vacuuming.
