My opinion is still out on this vacuum. I am having trouble cleaning the unit..to the point that it completely split apart when I was emptying it. Very hard to change the different heads. I am not a weakling but this is not the "easy Dyson" I was thinking I bought.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I can't live without my Dyson cordless vacs. I have 6 indoor cats and litter everywhere so vacuum several times a day. So I bought a newer one (dyson V11) for upstairs too and it is great but much heavier (has the stand attached which is nice) and makes a short "vroom" type hum when I let go of the on button. Wonder if this is normal. Like a whoosh sound. Maybe the newer ones do this as my first floor vac is a 7 or 8. But much lighter in weight. The newer one is more powerful.

I have been using two highly regarded uprights for years and considered the Dyson reviews much “malarkey”. Recently my stick vac died and I bought a V11 for my tile and hardwoods, I must admit I held a thought that I would be telling people that it was “fair” but overhyped. Well, after using it on my carpets and seeing what it pulled out I literally put my old uprights on the curb on trash day. It IS cumbersome when used as a hand held vac for under car seats, ceiling fans, and such, but I don’t think that’s a big deal.

I'm so very glad that I ordered my Dyson! I have some physical challenges and asthma. I haven't been able to do the vacuuming in our home. The Dyson is so light weight and powerful, and it cleans up with no noticeable dust!

1st one didn’t work. Sent it back and had a very quick turnaround. This one works perfectly. It deep cleans rugs. I have 2 dogs that shed hair continuously and my Dyson does a great job. Great attachments.
