This is my 3rd R5. The first one is great. The second error, coded 070, was constant. After almost 3 months of sending it back, 2 main boards, and several evaluations. I was finally sent a replacement that works great,

Best camera for wildlife

I have had my r5 for over a year and it is a fantastic camera for wildlife. I couple it with my EF lenses and have had nothing but great success.

While the upgraded features for the R5 II are really nice, bang for the buck, the original R5 cannot be beat. After reading many reviews that mentioned overheating and/or shutting down, I was a bit hesitant to plop down cash for what would be the most expensive camera I have ever purchased. I can now say that I have had ZERO such issues.
I did several torture test just to see how the camera would respond. First up was continuous video recording using a Canon OEM battery and two other off-brand batteries. Drained all three of them with the only shutdowns coming when the battery charge dropped too low to power the camera. I have even left it out in the sun with power on all afternoon when the temps were in the mid 90's and still not a hint of an issue. Just kept shooting (recording on both cards at the same time) and waiting for hours on end to see if it would crash. In spite of the harsh conditions, the R5 continued to performed flawlessly.
Perhaps these results are from the latest firmware update, cannot say one way or the other but I can attest that the R5 is just as reliable as my old 90D and every other Canon camera I have owned in the past.

great camera but fragile shutter system.

the R5 is all i wanted. a better autofocus than my 5dm4, rotating screen, IBS, etc. and i was very happy with it until an error code No 20 appears on the screen. I send it to Canon and the shutter system had to be changed. The camera had 40.000 shouts.... less than 10% of the 500.000 promised. i have to say than until the guaranty was expired, Canon paid the repair. But now i am not so confident with the Camera. I hope than it was something exceptional.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
