The Ceretone hearing aids provide a low cost effective way to improve hearing

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] CE-D12BT I have been wearing hearing aids for the past three years. I'm in a unique position to compare the Ceretone Hearing Aids Model CE-D12BT to the Oticon Zircon 2 miniRITE hearing aids that I currently use. To be fair, this isn't an "apples to apples" comparison because the Ceretone hearing aids retail for approximately one-fifth the cost of the Oticons. Still, many people considering hearing aids for the first time may find this comparison helpful. In all honesty, if my Medicare Advantage plan didn't cover the cost of my Oticons, I'd be looking at lower-cost alternatives myself.
The Ceretone hearing aids can be purchased over the counter without requiring an examination and hearing test by an audiologist. The Oticons do require an audiologist, who determines your level of hearing loss during testing. The Oticons are then programmed specifically for your hearing needs, while the Ceretones are not. Both hearing aids offer multiple listening programs for different environments. The Ceretones include Normal, Restaurant, Outdoor, and Music modes.
Besides the charging base, which also serves as a storage case, the Ceretones include a charging cable, three sizes of eartips, a cleaning tool, and a user manual. I was impressed by the amount of documentation provided. In addition to the detailed user manual, there is a Quick Start Guide and another guide that explains the adjustment period and offers helpful tips for new users.
The documentation notes that some patience is required when first wearing hearing aids, and that's true of expensive prescription models as well. Ceretone suggests an adjustment period of one to three months. Not only do you become accustomed to the feel of the hearing aids, but your brain gradually learns to process sounds differently. With my Oticons, everything sounded natural after about two weeks of daily use. The Ceretones arrived nearly fully charged. Within minutes, the LED lights on the charging case turned green, indicating they were fully charged. The hearing aids themselves were only slightly larger than my Oticons and felt equally comfortable in my ears. They include retention wires that fit into the bowl of the ear to help keep them securely in place. Three sizes of eartips are included, and the Quick Start Guide notes that using the wrong size can cause whistling or feedback.
Now for the most important comparison: performance. For a hearing aid that costs a fraction of what prescription models do, I found the Ceretones to be a respectable alternative. Although I only tested them for several hours, I felt that was enough to compare their basic sound quality and comfort because I've already been wearing hearing aids daily for the past three years. Speech was clear and easy to understand in quiet surroundings, and they amplified sounds naturally without being harsh. Like most over-the-counter hearing aids, they didn't separate speech from background noise quite as effectively as my Oticons, especially in noisier environments, but I expected that given the price difference. Comfort was excellent, and I experienced no issues with fit during my testing.
Overall, I think the Ceretone hearing aids offer very good value for the money. They don't provide the level of personalization or refinement that comes with professionally fitted prescription hearing aids, but they also cost only about one-fifth as much. If prescription hearing aids are beyond your budget, I believe these are a worthwhile option that can provide meaningful improvement in hearing for many users.
The Ceretones definitely provided sound amplification good enough to improve my hearing. Not surprisingly, the sound wasn’t as good as what I experienced with the Oticons, but it was a reasonable improvement to my hearing. I liked the controls on the Ceretones. It’s all done manually with one tiny lever you push either up or down to control volume and programs. With the Oticons, I found it difficult to change things manually on them, so any adjustments I make I do through an app. The Oticons have a Bluetooth capability, which the Ceretones lack. Besides, using them as hearing aids, once you set up the Bluetooth connection, anything sounds coming from your cell phone are directed to the hearing aids, such as music, phone calls, or sound tracks.
In summation, I think the Ceretones are a good, relatively inexpensive way to improve your hearing. For the low cost, they are easy to use, and improve hearing. Are they as good as the expensive hearing aids? No, but they are a decent alternative if your health insurance doesn’t cover the cost of the better ones and you just can’t afford them.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Perfect for my husband who has selective hearing. No more more yelling into his ears through a funnel just to get him to take the trash out. This product works great and the battery lasts a long time. These hearing aids are easy to clean, and easy to use. I tried them myself to see how clear they are as I do not have selective hearing and found them to be very clear. My husband can no longer ask me if i made al his stew when all i asked was how are you?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] WOW I can finally hear, received these items today and I am impressed. They are small but the clairity is great, they have different size tips for different size people. It seems to cancel out background noises which is also a plus+. I haven't had to do any maintenance yet but they come with a tool to clean them. I wore them for a few hours and they didn't fall out like my last pair. If you need hearing aids these are the ones to get.
