so disappointed - headphones keep disconnecting :(

At first I was really happy with the headphones, they worked really well, were comfortable, good quality of sound, and made my commute on crowded and loud buses bearable… but at one point they started disconnecting like non stop. for no apparent reason (no sudden movements, no low battery). it got so annoying, as it each disconnect comes with a loud chime. they would disconnect 10 times during one song! I tried so many "solutions" and spend so much time researching the problem. yes, I do have hair (apparently it's a problem for the headphones), I downloaded the app, followed the steps ("disable the automatic power off, etc - that worked for one day lol) maybe I am too old for that? why using those headphones became such headache. I will try to return them, not sure if I still can it's been a few months. it feels like the headphones are too smart/sophisticated for their own (and users) good. I don't have any problem with blue tooth air pads, even when I switch devices. Why Sony WH1000XM5 are so difficult to use. sometimes it feels like I spend more time researching the internet to find new solutions than actually to use them. sigh.

Had Jabra 85h for years, and decided to switch to these.
Audio was crackling out of the box when in ambient mode, and I was unable to resolve it using the app.
The touch controls didn't work at all (made me appreciate the buttons on the jabras).
These were returned.

Except for no instruction / operating manual everything was tops. I found a Help Guide on the internet though.

Expensive but Seriously Lacking

Most expensive headphones I have ever bought. And will never ever buy sony headphones again. Two weeks of trouble shooting. These cannot be returned to best buy and the best Sony can do is replace them but the issues seem built into these headphones. The design and feel is great. The listening sound quality as well. But if you purchase these expensive headphones to do any serious work - like calling on phones or using in videochats then avoid them at all costs. They are NOT designed for this and sony and other reviewers should be honest about that. In two weeks of ownership every voice call the user on the other end complains of echo of their own voice. Have disabled all of the high end features of these expensive headsets and nothing helps. In video chats the headset works at first but then disconnects part way through and you can't get reconnected without completely rebooting the chat. You can connect these to the computer with a wired connection (included) and it works fine for listening but there is no in-line mic (not well advertised but these sony headphones don't allow wired connection with mic, which is shocking for the price). So my options are use my old bose headphones (which have always worked fine as bluetooth) or use these with a wire connection and a separate mic. None of this is what one should expect from VERY expensive headphones that are advertsized for voice and video calls as well as listening. Avoid these unless you have money to burn. Sony seems uninterested in the issue (and there are multiple threads online about this but one only finds those after one purchases and runs into problems).

Don't buy!!!!!

You would think for a $500 dollar product there would be proper craftmanship so that it lasts long. After ONLY 3 MONTHS of regular use the headphones broke while adjusting them. They said it wouldn't be covered by warranty even though it's clearly defective and made cheaply. It would cost 200-300 to repair which is ridiculous. I'm out $500 dollars in 3 months with no help from Sony. I'll never buy these again and suggest you go for more affordable options since the quality of these headphones don't match the price point at all!

I've had them for 2 months and here's my thoughts

The sound is amazing, these are by far the best sounding headphones I have ever owned and they do music justice.
The noise canceling is scary good, like a safety hazard, be careful of cars the. The ambient sound setting is actually very good, I can properly converse with music playing and although your voice sounds a little weird at first you get used to it.
They were easy to hook up to my apple phone and have Plenty of options to control the sound of your music to best fit your taste.
Really, everything is great. My only complaint is the comfort. I find the memory foam in the ear pads to be too thin, and I find the headphones slide down the top of my head and I have to adjust them often. Also, my ears touch the inside of the ear cups which is normally unnoticeable but at times a bit of a nuisance. I have definitely had more comfortable headphones, however these are by no means uncomfortable the vast majority of the time. I would rate the comfort a 6/10 and everything else near perfect. Try them on if you are going to buy them to make sure they fit you properly, I bought mine during Boxing Day and the stores were out of stock so I was unable to but it really is worth it.
Are they worth the money? I'd say that really depends on what you need them for as well as how they fit you. For me personally, I don't regret buying them but I do wish they were a little more comfortable for the price.
