Not a product I would buy.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] From the start, Unrealistic arm and leg movements. She must wear a size 2 in shoes. Her hair is nasty, feels like its all glued to her head, cant be changed at all. The outfit would have been better with shoes not boots.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It's an Asian Barbie!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Barbie basics Little Black Dress Model 1. I chose this model because she looked Asian/South East Asian and I thought that was pretty cool since most figures are usually Caucasian or African American. That's what I usually see advertised.
I really don't play with dolls, but I do have and play with a lot of action figures. I figured they're somewhat similar so I gave this Barbie a try for the review. For a "basics" line I thought it was pretty good. The doll's articulation has a nice range of motion. The joints are not too tight or too loose, but just right. Hopefully they stay that way over time. I also liked that a stand was included with the doll to help with posing it. I'm not sure if her hair is supposed to be stiff? Seems like parts of it had some mustache wax on it or something. I figured it was there to style her hair differently? It would've been nice to include a comb to fix her hair back to "stock" look. I did pull some strands apart to see if I could change her look up and it did work. Again I'm not really sure how dolls are supposed to be played with so I thought I broke her hair!
The little black dress was nice. The fabric felt sturdy and high quality. I was surprised to see the dress taped/glue sticked on her legs and shoulder. I was checking out the articulation and the dress ripped off of the gluey part (no damage to the dress though). Guess I was too rough on her! I looked at the box and noticed the dress was supposed to be off her shoulder! Oops! But I restuck it back to its original position and it seemed ok.
The doll has a thigh twist, knee bends, and boot twist for her legs. At the arms her elbows bend, wrists twist and they move like arms should. No butterfly joints/articulation at the shoulders though, but again it's a basic line. Her facial features look nice and the paint job looks good. The eyes are nicely detailed.
Overall I'd say it's a nice doll for a basic line. I gave it 4 stars because my only complaint is that the factory put those plastic tamper proof stringy things right inside her head!! There's no way to cut them completely off without damaging the toy! Also a kid can hurt themselves if they're combing her hair with their fingers! If it wasn't for that I would've given it 5 stars.

Basic for sure

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The model #01 I received is pretty. I di like her hair cut. It seems the turning and twisting could have been applied to waist area. That would help with posing the doll. As far as clothing, underwear would be a basic item. But the doll for the most part is good for a starting point for little girls.

Worth the premium price?

Barbie gets better and better.

The quality of Barbie today surpasses the original. I had an original Barbie but, through the years I lost it. I am impressed how Barbie has evolved and stayed in tune with the changing times.
