Avoiding Cross Contamination with Touchless Dispenser

We received our simplehuman soap dispenser as a housewarming gift two weeks before the Coronavirus outbreak. It's the perfect way to dispense soap at the sink without touching a shared surface. It looks good and works well, matching the stainless steel / brushed nickel finish on our fixtures. It works flawlessly and no dirty (contaminated?) hands touch it.

Touchlesss clean

This is my third soap dispenser. The newest ones are really nice for adding soap without a mess. My only complaint is that they don’t seem to last. I sent first one back, received another, lasted only 2 years. I didn’t feel like going through sending back for another. I just ordered another one. The new one charges differently, and is easier to fill. Hopefully this one will last a little longer. I’m a simplehuman gal.

Not up to SH standards

This is a beautiful unit and brings automated soap dispensing to the household. Unfortunately, it is not very intuitive. People must acknowledge that it’s automated, then know to put their hands unnaturally low (like 1/3 of the way up from the bottom) if they want to get the equivalent of a normal squirt on their hands. Otherwise, you get a pea’s worth of soap and need to keep repeating the process.
Half the time it doesn’t immediately recognize your hands and you have to keep working with it. The other half of the time, you’ll walk to your sink and the unit will have squirted soap out for no reason onto the countertop.
My unit failed about 9 months in and I got a replacement. Same issues with erroneously shooting my $$ L’Occitane soap into the sink daily...
Overall I wish SH would remove the feature which dispenses varying amounts of soap based on how high the hands are. Things should be intuitive for guests. They should work the first time. Overall, below their usual standards. But still the best hands free dispenser and a solid brand. Own all their other products.

Sensor Pump - Reachargeable

It's an awesome product and it works well but my experience is that it's charging system/design fails after a period of time. Believe me, I have owned (4) in the past (4) years - simplehuman has replaced (2) at no charge - -service is great.
