We owned a 58 L Simple Human trash can for eight years before the hinge broke. I contacted the company to see about replacement parts, and they replaced it for free!

Sensor Model Didn't Last, Trying the Stepper Version

I purchased the same 58L trash can with the motion sensor about three years ago. While the trash can itself has held up well, the sensor no longer works effectively. I recently purchased the newer 58L model with the step pedal instead of the sensor. Overall, I find these trash cans to be durable and well-made. I'm hopeful that the step pedal model will provide better long-term reliability, but only time will tell how it holds up.
