Nice Trash Can!

This is a beautiful trash can. I have no problem leaving it out in the open in my kitchen. Easy to get another trash bag in back each time and very easy to put a new trash bag inside. Easy to operate the foot pedal. The lid always closes so quietly. I wanted a bigger trash can so I wouldn't have to empty it as often - mission accomplished!

plastic lid isn't durable

2nd simplehuman plastic lid trash can, the other lid was tough but the hinge broke and this is the newer style. The lid started squeaking everytime it opened, so I cleaned it, then ended up putting some silicone lube on it - well the lid now has streaks as the plastic stains easily. It looks like the hinges were crying....avoid the plastic lid. the plastic isn't as durable as the older models.

I have 2 of theses 55L rectangular step cans. One was gift for the house and i purchased a 2nd for the cabin. one for the cabin!

Arrived Defective

Arrived in an undamaged box, but had not been assembled correctly - the plastic pouch to hold the liners was not properly installed, and the plastic had permanently deformed into a warped shaped, so now it's always sticking out into the waste area a bit. Too much of a hassle to return it due to it's size, so dealing with it, but what kind of QC do they have if it left the manufacturing process this way?

It’s a steep price for “just a trash can” but at the end of the day they are the best and nothing out there comes close. The simple human ecosystem sold me and I am happy I made the switch.
