Short Battery Life

Nice looking and works well, but you only get 1 to 2 months on a set of batteries.

To ensure a long battery life:
1. Use fresh high quality alkaline batteries. We recommend Duracell Alkaline.
2. Do not use rechargeable AA batteries.
3. Clean battery contacts from any debris or residue.

I just received a replacement can for my first can which stopped working about a year after I bought it. I've had the new can for two weeks. This can has brand new batteries and it too doesn't work. I have to open it manually. No more simplehuman cans for me!

Excellent purchase!

For years we had another brand of an automated trash can. Now after using this one for just a few hours I regret not “trashing” that other can before now. All that frustration could have been avoided if I would have just purchased a simplehuman.

SS Rose Gold Garbage sensor can

Very pretty, convenient but the batteries were old and the sensor did not work very first day. I called the company and they suggested to put in new batteries which worked but the sensor is little weak. Hope the batteries last long.

Love the can...

I love almost everything about the can except it was a bit difficult to find a spot to place it so every time you walk pass it it doesn't go up. For me it's a game to get it not to go up when I'm not putting trash in it.
Great purchase and highly recommend it.

Once you go voice control, you’ll never go back!

I tried this cab because it was the closest representation in terms of overall size to what I had since I first bought the house. Literally the only reason I did not keep it was because I also tried the other models that had voice control and was sold. This can works great, but the voice control cans are so much better, especially since you can plug those models in to power them without having to change batteries. This model is battery operated, but it does fit better in tighter spaces, so it will work especially for the situations where a power outlet is not available.
