I love it. Sometimes after I clean the sensor it does not work for a few minutes, but not a huge deal.

Depending on how the sensor is cleaned, it may a few seconds for it to recalibrate itself and adjust the sensing range.

Jodie likes to get close enough to activate the lid....watches it go up....kinda backs off when it comes down.

So we had our can for 11 months and loved it. Kept odors in, easy to get the full garbage bag out of the can. It malfunctioned but thanks to the awesome warranty and customer service we got our can replaced in about 2 weeks time. Would definitely buy a simplehuman garbage can again!!.

Love for dogs!

I bought this product after reading reviews of “dog proof trash cans.” We just adopted a young dog and he learned how to get into and tip over the trash can we had very quickly. I’m actually shocked and not sure why this trash can works but he hasn’t gotten into it or tipped this one over since we got it. Even though his nose comes right up to the sensor and it often opens up for him, he can’t or doesn’t get in it. It’s also sturdy and doesn’t easily tip over. Aside from that, it’s a nice looking can which is important because I don’t have a space in my kitchen to hide the can well. And it works flawlessly! Very happy with the purchase.

Love the Rose Gold

I love my new 45 litre, semi-round sensor can with liner pocket, rose gold steel. I’ve had the regular pedal one in stainless steel for years but upgraded to this new one when we moved and am so glad we upgraded. The ease of the lid open with a quick “touch” of the sensor is very convenient. One thing to note is that it is very sensitive. Sometimes when you just walk by the garbage the lid opens because it senses motion. That doesn’t bother me though I just wanted to note.
