Overcoming barriers

I'm so happy! I just received my new S7 MaxV Plus and the two things that were concerns before I used it were, 1, will it caught up on my wool area rug and 2, will it be able to overcome the transom height difference to maneuver between my living room and kitchen. The answer to both was a resounding YES!

So far the S7 MaxV has been great. I was surprised at how much quieter it is than the S6 MaxV. It is also a good cleaner. I am anxiously awaiting the Auto Empty Wash Station

Finally, a great vac.

So much better than my Roomba i7+ (that would intentionally seek out the fastest way to get itself stuck, while also making sure it was the most hidden so when the battery died, you couldn’t find it for days on end).
The Roborock also only took a few hours to get itself stuck on a cord, but at least I could find it and create easy enough boundaries for it. But it’s unfortunate it didn’t avoid the cables.
Regardless, this is the best robot vac I’ve had, and I’ve had about every roomba model since 2006.
I’ve been very impressed with it. The tech (and app) are also so much better. It’s nice to be able to see it live and control so much of how it operates based on such detailed interaction.
Now, I’d like to get my hands on the new dock to make things just that much easier.

Robots have come a long way!

I was a very early adopter with the first Roomba vac (early 2003)... got a second one which lasted several years and then became a bit disenchanted with robot vacs largely due to the batteries just not lasting. Fast forward to 2022 and I started getting busy and needing our home to be clean at all times.. We did research, who had the best vac and mop unit? Lots of great reviews for Roborock! He (Rick Robot) S7 MaxV arrived yesterday and you better believe he went to work immediately. We have two levels and until the ultra dock is available, just the regular charger. We hadn't vac'd or mopped in a while (on purpose) and I have to admit to being pretty impressed with how the floors look (and feel in bare feet)... wish I had done a "quick map" first, so did that on the second level before cleaning. NOTES: We have several carpets that are essentially black with patterns... Rick Robot is super unhappy with those and nothing I can do (bar covering his cliff sensors, which we need - see next point) seems to persuade him it's safe to vac there :( meantime, the second level has a corridor connecting rooms that overlooks the main level. Poor Rick spent quite some time trying to commit the unthinkable and drive over the cliff to the floor below (presumably because it was light and he couldn't tell there was a 12' drop off). We talked him out of it and then when mapping was done, laid down a "no-go" zone so we don't have to worry about him leaping into the unknown from here on out.... sure wish there was an opposite of a no-go zone to mark our black patterned carpets as safe to go on, as it is, in order to prevent him from having a nervous breakdown, we have marked that entire room as a no-go. Mopping is good, though as others have noted the mop does seem to dry out on the edges, but we're hoping the ultra dock fixes this or else we'll be doing the 2-step mop action on rooms that need mopping.
Amazed that he can recognize a number of obstacles and correctly identify them (cables, power strip etc.) and love that we can go in and delete obstacles that were temporary (I got a ton of pics of my dang shoes as I was intently following him the first time around!). Impressed how accurately you can split up a room or lay down a no-go area. Swiffer duster keeps his "eyes" clean and we can't wait for the ultra dock to come!

For all intensive purposes, this vacuum/mop works really well. I love it. Keeps the house cleared of pet fur. It is good at avoiding most objects but does struggle with fluffy cat toys, small mice, or cat trees with short bases.
