Loving it!

I am not a runner, but I liked the look of this watch, and all the other features. I use it to keep track of my steps and nightly sleep, but I also love that it shows my heart rate, body battery, and stress. I also love the quick display of incoming texts, as well as weather and calendar entries.

Overall good running watch

I purchased the Forerunner 45S about 2 weeks ago to replace my 2013 Forerunner 910XT. Overall, I am happy with it. It has some cool new features. For basic running (pace, distance, time), it's great. After some churn, I was finally able to get a few custom workouts I like and had created a few years ago from Garmin Connect to the watch, so I have those now.
I have been reading the user manual for certain functions/how to's, and have been unable to find answers. This is where I am frustrated -- the menus to me are not intuitive, and I feel I spend a tad too much time looking for workouts or my run history, etc. I am sure that will ease up once I get more used to the watch.
I plan to spend some time with customer support to get some answers on such things as:
o How to disable the Garmin Connect app on the phone to constantly keep asking me for calendar access. It doesn't need access -- I am not using the app or the watch that way. Thus, I have stopped the app on my phone and an uploading my running data to Garmin Connect via Garmin Express on my laptop.
o How to make the alarm louder. I had hoped to use the watch as a back-up alarm, and I can't even hear it. I do not wear the watch to bed. No way would the alarm wake me up in the morning. I haven't been able to find a volume control for the alarm.
o How to stop the watch during a run from automatically lapping. I am not sure how it's happening or when it's happening. I am running, and then the next thing I know when I look down, I have only 2 minutes instead of my total accumulated time running. It could be related to my stopping briefly (biobreak, whatever) and the Resume, but I don't know why that would constitute a lap. When I am done and do a SAVE, however, my total run time is there.
o How to look at what time it is while running. I tried UP, DOWN, and BACK, to no avail. It was very easy to do on the 910XT because I had customized a screen to show me the time -- I just used the UP on the 910XT while running and had the time and then DOWN to my pace, time, and mileage.
This is my 3rd Garmin Forerunner. Yes, I like the 45S -- it definitely fits me ever so much better than my previous two. It is much more comfortable, too. The GPS connects faster, and I like being able to upload data without using the external ANT stick (have to use on the 910XT). There are some functions and features I may eventually use, so they are nice to have for the future.
For someone like me who wanted a basic GPS running watch for pace, time, distance, run/walk alerts, and some custom workouts, the 45S works for me.

Really great watch for casual runner

I bought my watch to help track my summer training for the upcoming cross country season. The watch does a great job without being over complicated. I found myself using features I though I wouldn’t, like sleep tracker and intensity minutes. I also loved how I could create workouts on the app and run them really easily.

I'm very happy with the buttons, tho I was skeptical at first. It's easy to use, with nice features.... still not convinced the body battery is very useful but it is interesting. I miss my stair counting but not terribly. Very nice upgrade!

Wanted a gps/fitness tracker. Didn’t want touch screen or music. Just what it is. Only thing is sometimes loses communication with my phone.
