Adequate for my needs

As a user that had the Forerunner 15, 25 and 35, i find the 45 much more difficult to figure out how to use. If the buttons had stayed in the same format as the previous versions Ive used, it would have been a lot easier for me to figure out. Ive had to call tech support at garmin for help twice now. I can read the directions, but they just don't make sense. I almost wish I hadn't spent the money on this product. Very disappointed.

Unable to find a replacement band for my trusty Forerunner 410, I purchased a 45. Right away, I could not help but notice that it feels chintzier on my wrist than the 410, though I suppose some people may like the smaller profile. I liked the treadmill/indoor track features but have found them to be wildly inconsistent, which is understandable since they're not GPS-based measures. However, I have also had problems with the 45 correctly calculating distances for outdoor runs. On at least two occasions, the watch seemed to accurately track my 1-mile laps, but the total distance of my runs did not come close to matching the sum of the laps. Lastly, and perhaps most significantly, I sometimes experience skin irritation with the 45 that I never experienced in nearly a decade with the 410. I do like the Bluetooth connectivity of the 45, but on the whole I just can't recommend this watch.

New 45S features

I bought my 45S about 2 months ago. Love the steps. Very versatile to use for multi-sports. Sleep works moderately well. Wonderful watch, but some of the watch faces can be glitchy and not work at times. My favorite is called "Elegance". The only other problem is that the second hand appears and disappears due to the glitch of the system. All of the second hands are like this on this model. I'm very happy with my Forerunner 45S. I'm still learning some of the features but I like this watch a lot especially the size. I still have my 235 but this one is great for what I need as well. #Garminforerunnerfan

Great watch -constantly disconnecting from the app

Probably twice a week I have to jump through hoops to get the watch to connect to the app: disconnecting/reconnecting Bluetooth, turning off/on the watch, finally uninstalling/reinstalling the app and setting it up all over again.

I’ve had this watch for about a month. I bought it because I am training for my first half Marathon. Overall a great experience. However, for a first time smart watch/tracker watch user there are a few issues with it being not so intuitive and not as user friendly as I’d hoped. I’m tech savvy but this watch does have some issues staying connected to my phone. I often have to turn the watch off, then back on for it to reconnect (and yes I check All trouble shooting issues before I tried this). Also understanding the running settings and calibrating it with a treadmill was confusing. Overall though I am VERY pleased with it. So many great features, too many to share in one review.
