Not reliable

I was hoping that this device would be better than the Forerunner 35. It is not.
GPS Connection. It has a hard time holding on to a GPS connection so it does not measure accurately. One morning, I selected my activity and waited for it to connect to GPS. It connected and in the approximately two minutes between connecting and me heading out the door to start my run, it switch between "waiting for GPS" and connecting three times.
Measuring Distance. I have compared it to known, accurately measured courses, apps on my phone and another Garmin device and each time it showed the distance covered as less than the other sources. It has been as much as .15 miles behind other sources. This is for both biking and running.
Calorie Count. Last week, for every run, it reported that I was burning about 10 calories per mile; so after ten miles of running, it showed that I had burned 98 calories. This happened for about eight days, then it mysteriously went back to giving a more realistic, although not necessarily accurate, calorie count.
Good Side. I like that when using it in the dark, the light will come on when you turn your wrist, like to look at it. The emergency feature is good too; although recently it notified my emergency contact that I was in danger and I am not sure how that happened. I was not in danger and the only thing I remember doing was hitting "stop." My contact did have the good sense to call me to make sure all was well.
Overall. I recognize that this is not a high end device. I am not looking for high end. I simply want a device that measures distance accurately and calculates my pace accurately. This does not do that so it is not very useful to me except as a time keeper.

I was a former TomTom gps watch user. I am so happy to have switched to Garmin. This watch has everything that I need and more. I wish I would’ve have made the switch sooner!

Great Running Watch But Needs Improvement
on August 20, 2019

I really like this watch because I think the GPS is accurate compared to Apple Watch Series 3 that I have as well. I use both while running and upload my runs in Strava. For me 45s GPS is more accurate. Although my issue is when connecting to iPhone Xs. It doesn’t connect to the iPhone automatically and there are times that I need to manually sync the data for it to upload to Strava.

I’ve always had a basic Garmin model but splurged this time. It’s amazing! In particular the Steps, Stress and Body Battery sections. I like the challenges too. This watch inspires me to move and makes those everyday excursions more enjoyable.

Does not stay paired

I’m giving it 2 stars instead of 1 because I really want to like it but I have a terrible time keeping it paired. I have followed the troubleshooting steps several times but continue to have the same issue. It also takes forever to “find GPS” before I head out on a run. I’m very close to returning it after spending the last month trying to make it work.

Got this watch back in June. They call it the around the blocker but I’m training for my third marathon this one is all you need if that’s what you’re doing. It has everything you need to train and run up to a marathon. Not sure how it would do if you went up to ultras. I do like how this so called bottom of the barrel Garmin does your heart rate, music, and phone notifications. much more than the 35.
