This ac is for a garage that was converted to a room. It gets really warm in the summer time. This unit works well. I never use the high fan speed. The quiet setting is good for sound. Medium and low speeds are a bit loud. Stilll, it does the job.
Very loud. Wall and window vibrate when the compressor kicks in. Yes, the unit is perfectly centered, level and has perfect tilt so water drains.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We are more than happy to provide guidance with the sounds of this air conditioner. We have provided some normal operating air conditioner sounds for this unit on page 15 of the Owner's Manual here: https://products-salsify.geappliances.com/image/upload/s--mi7DgP9A--/aynprhpzrgpyoy07ym83.pdf
We have also provided some additional normal air conditioner sounds here: https://products-salsify.geappliances.com/image/upload/s--mi7DgP9A--/aynprhpzrgpyoy07ym83.pdf
If you are experiencing a sound, taking advantage of your limited warranty is advised. You can view your warranty details on page 19 of the Owner's Manual linked above.
Unit is quiet and cools nicely. It's covering more than the room we have it in by using additional fans to blow the cool air out to other rooms. It is lightweight and easy to install. The Energy Star rating was a big reason I chose this product. I'm happy with my purchase
I bought this to replace an older unit in a third floor bedroom. We live in New Jersey where summers are hot and humid. That bedroom is used by our 3 year old granddaughter when she visits and the old AC was ridiculously noisy. This model uses inverter technology and the ability of this unit to quietly produce cold air is just fantastic. I feel that we’ve moved into the modern age. GE’s inverter units cost more but they are completely worth the additional cost. Also - you will notice that the 8000 BTU units cost weighs only 44 pounds!! This weight is far below the competition. I’m almost 70 years old and removing that extra 20 pounds (regular units weigh about 64 pounds) is a real advantage in terms of installation. Did I mention that this unit uses less energy to produce cool air? Yet another advantage. This is the one to buy.
