Dissatisfied with my purchase

I don’t feel like the flatiron is working to its full potential I’ve used the FHI flat iron before but based on this recent purchase I made I don’t think the flat iron works the same. It seems to take a while to heat up and when it does it constantly shuts back off. It might be a safety feature in order for it not to overheat but I have very thick and curly hair and in order for me to properly straighten my hair I need my flat iron to stay hot enough. I’m so disappointed because like I said I have used this same flat iron from a friend and it seemed to be the only thing to straighten my hair good enough with out damaging my natural hair but it’s not working the same.
