I love this machine, I use it daily to quilt. The plate can be difficult to remove for cleaning but otherwise this is a solid machine.

Easy to assemble and use. I watched the CD and learned about the automatic sewing feature. Very helpful for straight sewing! The backward/forward stitches work well, and although I've had this sewing machine for several months, there's still more to explore.

Great starter machine

Great starter machine, not very expensive, has a wide variety of stitches and presser feet, including the walking foot. I really liked the thread assisting device, BUT it didn't last long. The filament used to thread the needle is so thin and very delicate and it quit working to thread the needle. It was hard to thread the needle without assistance, so that became a major frustration and I bought a different brand of machine that has an air threader.
Other than the threader not working very long, this is a great machine to learn on. After I got my new machine (different brand) I realized that the Brother is not as smooth as the new one. I realized that the feed dogs were a little uneven and was creating wobbly stitches unless I was diligent about guiding the fabric. As a side note, this could have just been me since I am a beginner sewist....lol.
I do like the machine. At this price point I feel comfortable taking it to quilt classes or letting someone borrow the machine. This machine is more than just a basic machine with lots of possibilities and a wide variety of uses.
The other major frustration I have with the machine is the throat space. I want to make quilts and wall hangings and the narrow space to work with was very frustrating. I did not realize that it would make that much difference but it does.

Love the machine except the automatic needle threader doesn't work. Have tried over 100 times to thread the needle and doesn't work
