Great sewing experience, nice features for the $$$

I already have the Brother SE 1900 sewing/embroidery machine, and while it is pretty portable for what it is, I wanted something less expensive and a little smaller to take with me while I work on theatre costumes, etc. Plus, I’ve been having issues with the bobbin on my other machine - an easy fix, I’m sure, it’s probably just overdue for a cleaning - but I needed a machine to have on hand as a backup. Additionally, once I get a sewing room set up, I’d love to have two machines so I don’t have to switch back and forth from embroidery to sewing. I am spoiled by my Brother SE 1900, however, and knew I would just be frustrated by an entry level machine. My husband and I did a bit of research and bother landed on this machine. I love it. It’s set up differently than the SE 1900 and a few of the features are a little more basic, but it has almost everything I love about the sewing parts of the more expensive machine. It has the adjustable speed switch and seems to see just as fast as my fancier machine. I haven’t tried it on a very thick fabric yet, but it sewed through a big stack of seam allowances just fine. The needle threader is different and a little more finicky but I think I might just need to get used to it. It’s still a lot nicer than doing it by hand. Threading the machine is a fairly simple process, as is using the high speed bobbin winder. The drop in bobbin case is easy to work out. The bobbin winder doubles as a base to insert a second spool to use a twin needle, which is included along with a nice variety of other accessories to get you going. This model has both the regular sized table for a compact footprint and easy portability as well as the long table to support larger projects, which is a nice touch. This is a little more expensive than a basic level machine, but it would make a perfect machine for beginners and they would not outgrow it for a long time. But it’s definitely perfect for more experienced sewers who want a convenient and compact machine without sacrificing their sewing experience. I am so glad I paid a bit more for this machine. I have a few more things to work out, but I think I’m going to be happy with it for quite a while.

Love this machine!

I’m a beginner & purchased the brother cs 7205, I love it! Easy to figure out, the manual & video are so helpful. It sews beautifully. I’ve had 0 issues! The one thing I didn’t notice when I purchased was that it embroidery's only the block font. I wish I would have bought the one with more font options and that has an app for my computer so that I can send projects to the machine. That’ll be my next machine. I highly recommend this Brother sewing machine!

Nice, well-priced machine. Comes with a good amount of notions and accessories. Easy to use, instruction manual was thorough. There are a lot of decorative stitches, which may not be useful frequently but still fun to have. Love how you can embroider letters with ease with this machine.

Great Machine, Great Price

Love this machine! I'm a beginning quilter and this has many of the bells and whistles of the more expensive machines that my friends have. I've just completed stitch in a ditch quilting of a wall hanging and it did a great job aside from operator error (me).

I love this sewing machine . It is a huge upgrade from the one I was using. I purchased it primarily because I was planning on making drapes for my bay window and wanted a machine that could handle multiple layers of fabric and heavy buckram that was within my budget. The Brother CS7205 ticked all the boxes. Plenty if stitch options to choose from some I’ll probably never use. Some of the other features I love are the variable speed control, easy drop in bobbin and winder, it’s light enough to carry around and heavy enough that it’s solid , the machine is easy to use and comes with an easy to understand manual.
Ok now the reason for only 4 stars- I don’t like that the area around the needle is so crowded . Its difficult to change the needle and swap out presser feet.

Not a Happy Camper

I love the machine, but, someone designed the left side to come down to far and now you can't get your hand in there to change the foot and put a walking foot on. Plus, I love to do decorative stitches. Haven't been able to do one on this machine yet. Been tempted to pack it up and send it back a couple of times. But, I'm stubborn, will try to concur it yet. Will try support help first.
