Great Toy!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was not expecting to be as big as it is. My 3 year old loves it and plays with it everyday. I like that it comes with a plane and car. It came with instruction how to put it together and it was super easy.

Great for the airport enthusiast

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My kids have been obsessed with airports and airplanes lately so this was the perfect addition to their Matchbox collection. The set includes one die-cast car and one plastic airplane which seems a little flimsy compared to the car, but that is not a dealbreaker for us. There were a lot of pieces and stickers to assemble before it could be used. The instruction booklet is all black and white which made sticker placement a little tricky. Their favorite parts so far have been the door that opens to reveal the attendant and being able to really “fly” the plane by attaching it to the clip on the tower.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great Theme But Lacks Execution

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The set was well packaged and easy to open and unbox, but it requires assembly. The instructions were mostly clear, but the process was lengthy and not kid friendly. It took us about 30 minutes to complete assembly. The instructions include the application of some incredibly tiny stickers, as well as stickers on difficult surfaces like the rounded control tower. The stickers give you one shot to apply, so if you make a mistake you'll need to break out the scotch tape. The instructions also omit what to do with three pieces. They're not hard to figure out, but it's worth noting.
This set has a very limited number of play functions. The plane flies/lands and the hangar door can be manually opened/closed. It comes with both a plane and a car, which is very welcome, but the set ultimately feels a little light. The most glaring omission is the complete lack of sound. Unlike most other Matchbox play sets, this one has no sound. It seems really obvious that pressing the tower should have resulted in the playing of some takeoff/landing related speech and sounds. Many other sets also include lighting elements that this set lacks. Lighting the control tower or the runway seems like another obvious miss.
Speaking of the control tower, the tower is lubricated to ensure that it spins correctly. Unfortunately, it appears to come a little over lubricated from the factory as our tower seems to leak a little bit of black lubricant whenever it is spun. We expect this will diminish over time.
The theme is a huge draw, and my kids are still enjoying the set, but the lack of function and lights/sounds is a glaring omission that impacts the fun and results in the toy being less than it could be.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great toddler toy!

Unique and fun set!

As a family that is hyping up an upcoming air plane ride, this toy has been able to allow us to create realistic expectations while having fun. The best part about this item is that it connects to other Matchbox sets, which allows your children to create a full city experience.

Matchbox Adventure Set

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My grandson really loves his adventure play sets. This Matchbox Takeoff Adventure Set is a great one for him. From flying the airplane around in his hands, to connecting it to fly and land with the playset. It has a garage he used not only for the plane, but also for his other Matchbox vehicles. Also has roads, gates, fuel, and a check-in dude at the door.

The imagination caused by this toy amazed me

So much fun!

The airplane that winds up to take off, or winds down to land the little guy that “opens” the door when you arrive. It is easy to break down and rebuild if you want to store it in a bin. My kids (and me) really love it!
