I gave a four for weather proof because some parts are partical board. Mine is for a carport so not a worry for me. Hoping my out door cats enjoy it this winter.
This is a good product, a little complicated for assembling, but it's ok, we insulated it all for the winter and will see how resistant it is after the winter season.
I was so pleasantly surprised when I opened the box. The pieces are very sturdy and well-crafted. The instructions were easy to follow. This thing is so sturdy! My neighbors dog was distracted by a squirrel and when she ran after it, her leash caught on one of the legs of the Cat House and it rolled end over end down the driveway. NOT A SCRATCH on it!!
I made several improvements and adjustments to this house to suit my own ferals needs. I live in the Midwest for Winters can be pretty harsh so each panel, before I put it together, received two layers of carpeting as insulation. I also opted to keep the top side door on the bottom escape hatch and blocked off the other door and used both weatherproofing flaps on the side door so it's double layer. I wish sometimes the manufacturers of these type of houses would put some sort of handles on each side because you can't pick it up from the roof, and you have to bend down and pick it up from the bottom, speaking bulky can just use handles on the side which would be better but overall it was a good basic house to start critiquing for my ferals needs
We found that the house was well made for the price and very easy to put together. The parts all fit as designed. However, it is a little small for our outdoor cats. Better for kittens or small cats. Our cats are about 11 pounds, and still too big for the house.
