My wife and I bought the Cuisinart-Countertop single burner to use during our kitchen remodel. We have used it to cook soups, reheat oatmeal, scramble eggs and prepare other quick meals. It heats up fairly quickly and the adjustable settings are a useful feature.
I bought this unit as a replacement for the Broil King CSR3TB which had an electric wire beak. I normally cook on a hot plate. However the cast iron heating unit was not responsive. It took too long to heat to the desired temperature and wouldn’t cool down quickly so the pot continued to cook
This hotplate at 1500watts is great for frying anything and get a good sear! To fry pork chops all I needed was the #3 setting, plenty hot without a bunch of splattering. You may have to experiment with the temp settings to find what you need. I found that for simmering a gal. of veggie soup, I used minimum, #1 will give you a low boil. Experiment and cook, fry and boil your favorite recipe without issue!
I have been wanting a burner that can handle a cast iron for a long time. I have used this burner for everything but the cast iron. In the few times I have used the burner it’s worked out well and did the job. I was a little disappointed with the top black plastic on each side of the burner that started melting after the 3rd time using. The black plastic starting folding over with heat.
I bought this because I am getting an induction cooktop and I have a few pans that won’t work on it. It works great. Made peanut brittle on the electric burner and it works great.
