I have been wanting a burner that can handle a cast iron for a long time. I have used this burner for everything but the cast iron. In the few times I have used the burner it’s worked out well and did the job. I was a little disappointed with the top black plastic on each side of the burner that started melting after the 3rd time using. The black plastic starting folding over with heat.

I am able to use my All American pressure canner with this burner! Since coil top stoves are becoming obsolete and gas isn’t an option in my home, this burner saved my harvest.

The Cuisinart Countertop Single "Burner" works great for my purposes. Yes, the surface around the burner gets hot. That is to be expected, I think. If you follow directions and let the burner plate get to temperature (the light goes green)... it works great. It heated up soup in 5 minutes or less. Just like a stove stop. Like all cooking appliances, keep flamable items away from it. I recommend this for anyone looking for portable electric cooking.

I used this daily for 3 weeks when we were remodeling our kitchen. I like Cuisinart brand but was disappointed in this product. The cast iron burner rusted after 3 weeks and the unit was so slow to heat that I would turn it on, have my coffee, and then fry an egg. Cuisinart does not warrenty rust.

I’m using this hot plate for water bath canning. I found quickly that I had to use a hot water pot to boil water for the canner. Otherwise the water would never boil. It works perfectly doing this! !!!!

The heat control dial turns smoothly, but I think the device only pays attention to it if you go a full setting higher or more. (It goes from 0 to 5.) There may be only 4 or 5 actual heat settings internally. And it burned butter at 1 and a half, and to keep water boiling for spaghetti (true, without a lid), I had to go to 5. Other hot plates I’ve used pretty continuously click on and off - that’s how you know it’s trying to keep the temperature at what you set it at. This one barely clicks on and off at all.
Also, the top became rusty after the first use and I can’t get rid of the rust. It’s about 2 weeks I’ve had it now.

This hot plate can delicately saute onions or bring a huge pot to boil for chicken broth. I've used it on the lanai, in the kitchen and even at a camp site plugged into my car's outlet. Temp settings are accurate and the temp is consistent with no irregularities. I had no idea a single burner hotplate could perform so well.
