I purchased this light locally and like it; however, there are 3 things that I wish it could do. First, I wish that the light was hinged in the center of the support arm. As it is now, I can lower the light head but doing so moves the light forward across my desk. I would like the ability to lower the light head closer to its base; another set of hinges in the middle of the support arm would allow this. Second, I would love to be able to adjust the color temperature of the light. Currently I can adjust the brightness but I am unable to adjust the hue of the light. It would be nice to be able to have the ability to shine a warmer light on occasion, and as the unit is now, it can't do that. Finally, I wish it were easier to convert this light from a clamping light to a pole light. I chose to use the clamp; however, it appeared that once you pop the base of the light into the floor pole that locks into place and would not be removable. Perhaps this light can do that; however, I didn't want to be locked into a floor lamp so I didn't want to risk trying it. Despite three things things, this is a nice light and I'm glad I purchased it. The magnifying and clamping arms are infinitely flexible and seem sturdy (though there are other reviews that have complained about the durability of these features), and having a 120V outlet built into the base is a brilliant feature that I didn't know I needed until I had it! I'm giving 4 stars for the plastic base and clamp (they look good but don't inspire confidence), positionability of the light, and the inability to control the light temperature.
Bought just today at a closed big box store. My husband assembled it but had a hard time attaching it to the floor base. He told me it’s definitely a manufacturers defect. I was so mad and thinking this defect may be the reason why it was so cheap, the lamp works though! Luckily my husband was able to fix it! He cut a little bit on both sides to make the indent wider and was able to connect it with no problem. I’m one happy crafter right now.
I just bought at a reduced price from a retailer going out of business. I was so excited to get this light as I had been wanting it for a very long time.
First the Cons: 1. It indicates it’s a 3-in-1 light. Unfortunately, to change from floor to table lamp you have to disassemble the lamp taking the lamp base off and removing/installing the extension. 2. Instructions are not very detailed and in some places incorrect, i.e. refer to the wrong letters making them difficult to follow. 3. The lamp portion doesn’t NOT attach to the extension to make a floor lamp WITHOUT force or modification. I had to use a dremel to ream out the inside of the plastic coupler because I still wanted to have the capability to use the clamp (3rd) function. 4. Seems very wobbly when you are trying to adjust the light, magnifier, and clamp.
Now the Pros: 1. I like the power outlet which lets me plug in a tool. 2. Heavy base seems like it will keep from tipping even though it is wobbly. 3. I like being able to (now that I’ve done manual modification) move from flow lamp to clamp with ease. Just wish I could have the same option for table lamp.
I bought this lamp and did not put it together right away, when I did try to put it together the lamp section did not fit into the stand. the company I bought it from is now closed and I am stuck with a very expensive defective lamp
I bought this 3 days ago. The lamp doesn't fit into the floor mount adapter in the top of the floor section pole. It can only be used as a table top lamp. This lamp is garbage without the proper floor mount adapter. The model number is: CSY53CPC. Batch No./Lot No.: JAS0967/3958/4176/5949
TL;DR: Only buy this if you get it cheaply AND you want to use it as a desk/clamp light. As others have said, it does NOT fit properly when assembling for floor lamp use. I took the part that connects the floor lamp rod to the light base, and I think I know the problem: The part/flange that connects the rod to the light base (it has 2 screws on it is BACKWARDS. If you reverse it, it fits PERFECTLY. The problem? You can't use it like that. Maybe if you call them you can get a replacement part. I didn't want to wait, and managed to brute-force it with a rubber hammer (meaning it will only ever be a floor lamp). I got this for a good price from a retailer going out of business so I don't mind - otherwise it would be going back.
I purchased lamp yesterday. Defective design. Design structure does not allow attachment of light fixture to standing poll. Can only use desk lamp installation.
I bought this 3 in 1 Craft Lamp yesterday, April 10. Just like another reviewer on here, the light assembly will not fit into the floor stand post piece. Hole seems too small, light assembly post slot will not even slide far enough in to reach the tab.
