heavy duty singer

i thought i was purchasing a singer with a stainless steel body, which wasn't the case. it was described as such, but it is plastic. i did like how the arrows guided you to the path of threading the needle. also like the hidden storage compartment. i was shocked when i seen that the bobbins AND some of the feet were made of plastic. quality is not what it use to be. i haven't actually gotten to try out any heavy duty fabric as of yet.

I love my new sewing machine. It runs like a gem. I have hemed paints, made curtains and even a baby blanket. I really love the needle threader, it is easy on my eyes.

Used it twice and it went in for repair (needle hitting ) warranty covered. Next time I went to use it it acted the same way. This repair will cost me $70. (not under warranty). Equalivent to a car with less than 100 miles. They say the belt slipped.

Don't be fooled

If you think this machine will sew heavy fabrics for more than the occasional hemming of jeans you are wrong. Very, very disappointed!! I bought this machine in November 2013 and have had to send it twice for warranty work. I thought I would be able to use this for making purses out of heavier fabric. After the second repair I received a call from the service person who told me the heavy duty meant faster sewing and it does sew faster. That is why I gave it one star. So if you are looking for a machine to sew heavy fabrics, don't buy this one!

I've never sewn before and this machine is great! Very novice friendly and powers through Jean material like crazy. One of those purchases I wished that I would have made years ago. Just hit you tube for some how to videos and you're off to the races

I am a crafter that has recently been invited to be part of several craft fairs because I up-cycle items. I already have a Singer sewing machine but needed something with a little more power to work some of the materials I use and that it does. It is truly making so many of my projects so much easier and faster to make.

It's magic

My machine is magic. I push the pedal and it magically makes cloth and anything else in it stick together. For this reason I have opted not to place my fingers directly in it. If they were stuck together it would be hard to use the shears. The subtle grey color of the machine works well at never outshining me and my flamboyant neon colors. In fact, if I'm not looking for it very hard I might not notice it is there. You need never worry that the government will charge you with improper light bulbs as this forward thinking machine uses led light bulbs and should be compliant with the laws for many years to come. So far this thing has magically stuck together four thick layers or cotton canvas like material. I await my opportunity to try it on leather as I endeavor to make a trap shooting vest for my husband.

Great & Excellent Machine

I had gotten this machine 4 weeks ago. It worked very well with different thickness in fabric and the speed is very good. The bobbin threading is very easy. Just one advice, when threading bobbin, be gentle!!! The only problem is that it was missing some accessories, which I have contacted for Singer to send me, hope they will send. I used this machine for sewing garment quality leather and it worked well. I even sewed a thick torn stretchy pants with hem and I have to say, this machine did a great hem and is sturdy. I have since moved onto other materials, namely 80% polyester 20% Lycra. After realizing the importance of needles, with the leather. I quickly went and bought some ball point needles. I have to say, you have to have the right tools for ANY given job. This machine really does handle it. Looking for different presser feet, there are a lot of them which fit this machine. I found some more presser feet via online. I have a pretty good list of new items that, I eventually will need. The quality is excellent and this machine really does a great job. Money well spent if you ask me.
