Have mended on a backpack without any difficulties. Wish there were more feet included. Also works on leather, putting patches on vests and jackets.

I have used a few different machines over the years and Singer has been my favorite brand! Then I got the Heavy Duty 4423... I love how I can push the pedal all the way down and it doesn't start bouncing around! I have had this machine for a couple of months now and I have nothing negative to say about it! This is a machine that I would definitely buy again!

Perfect Selection

I chose the 4423 because of its heavy duty construction. I make shoulder bags which have many thickness to be sewed together. The sewing arm was a surprise but a welcomed addition as I do a lot circular sewing. The auto needle threader was a gift from heaven. The brand name and warranty are all added pluses.

I sew almost every day, making shorts and dresses for children in Africa and Honduras (church project). This is my third SInger, and is very easy to use with quality construction.

Does what it's made to do

Just bought this machine because my sewing/embroidery machine wasn't doing what I needed. I make costumes for my kids theatrical company and needed a tough machine that I could schlep to rehearsals and theaters on a weekly basis. The solid metal frame and basic stitches are all I need.

I do basic rather simple sewing. I find this machine significantly more powerful, and significantly more controllable; and that is a very good combination. I believe what they say when they it is a workhorse that will last a long time. I also enjoy the 23 stitches; and for the sewing I now do I think they will be quite adequate. I prefer handling metal bobbins and think it would be an improvement if they could design this same kind of bobbin operation, only use metal bobbins. Metal bobbins do have holes in them so you can see how much thread is left. My last sewing machine also has a strong metal case, but not as strong a motor. And this much newer machine has new generations of making sewing easier. I think it is a good investment I couldn't resist.

Great Machine and a Great Value!

Simple set up, versatile and just an all around great workhorse of a machine. Singer has never failed me. It has handled fabrics from the lightest weight to multiple layers of leather and denim and does so flawlessly. I have had it for over 2 years now and logged a lot of miles on it. No complaints!
